In other news Wilie E Coyote ran off a cliff after once again being defeated by the Roadrunner. He did manage to get a laugh from bystanders after running in thin air for 5 seconds before crashing into the canyon.

I was lucky enough to catch the workout. She was one of the last ones on the track that morning.

she totes 129 next Saturday. Assuming she wins easy, Shireffs might just see how much NYRA would make her carry at Saratoga. You know she would have to carry the grandstand at Del Mar. Of course, he could always "threaten to ship" in order to intimidate Del Mar into keeping it "reasonable".
Cant wait till see Rachel run on 6/27. Would love to see them match up.

I think its interesting to look at this article in the context of the year's end...and how many anticipated Zenyatta to replace Curlin...but it never happened as planned because of an upstart filly and the fact that Zenyatta stayed on the west coast...

Zenyatta will fill Curlin's void
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Paul Moran
Special to ESPN.com
Having been voted Horse of the Year, the first repeat winner of that title in more than a decade since Cigar, Curlin moves to his new role at stud, leaving a yawning void on the racing landscape. Fortunately, a superstar long overdue deserved recognition appropriate to her accomplishment waits in the wings
Earlier this month, trainer John Shirreffs began preparing Zenyatta, now a 5-year-old, for a new campaign that had unbound potential to propel her into the glare of a public spotlight and into the mainstream consciousness.
Zenyatta has everything required of the breakthrough star except an effective publicist.
Even in Curlin's shadow, she received 69 votes in the Horse of the Year poll and it is impossible to argue with those gathered in her corner. The Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic, which she won with a stirring, wide rally, was her ninth victory without defeat. Perfection is a rare commodity in this game but she has not seen an anxious moment. The vote total for champion older female was 240-2, the dissenting pair opting for Ginger Punch, a top mare but humbled by Zenyatta at Santa Anita.

John Shirreffs posted a few new videos of Zenyatta on his YouTube channel last week. There's a nice moment of her Spanish Walk pre workout.
