Re: Foals of 2020

New photos of Unique Bella and her lovely MDO filly. Is she going to stay bay? She got saddled with the name, Una Bella d'Oro . They don't have a color listed yet, maybe they are unsure themselves. I'm crying rn. I can hear it in 3 years...Jerry Bailey and Randy Moss talking about the Oaks and the ...

Hoping Blisstikus was OK. Didn't like that she kept laying down.

Re: Racing in Japan

Any news on Dieu du Vin? Was hoping to see him in the Hyacinth, then he didn't run. Wondering if there's a new plan for him. It sounds like he has a minor back problem. His next start is unknown. Thanks for that news, tachyon. I'm hoping he makes it back and could still factor into the Derby pictur...

Re: What Race Got You Into This?

The 1983 Kentucky Derby. We were visiting my mom's parents. My grandma brought out 2 quarters--one for me and one for her. We each picked a horse; the horse that crossed the line ahead of the other's pick netted both quarters. I picked by name only---Sunny's Halo. I've been hooked ever since.

Re: Princess Haya, wife of Sheikh Mohammed, Flees Dubai

With his rather dreadful behavior now on public record, will Sheikh Mo no longer be such a welcome guest in the Royal Enclosure at Ascot? No more rides in the Royal Procession from Windsor Castle? I really hope so. ETA: The RacingPost has also published an article: https://www.racingpost.co...

Inheritance (Tapit) foaled a colt by Collected. She is from the family of Corinthian and others. There's a name there somewhere.

Estate Tax? ;)
If you want to go more casual, GimmedaMoney is available (there's a Give Me the Money from 2014, though).

Re: California Chrome to Japan

Idk about you all, but I'm tired of the American thoroughbred model. I'm thinking I need to just focus on European, Australian and Japanese racing. At least their horses are bred for longevity and run for more than 6 races. Not the Europeans who also retire their top 3yos every year like clockwork ...

Re: California Chrome to Japan

Steve Haskin shared his thoughts on this situation on facebook (I don't see them on Bloodhorse though). Basically, what he wrote was what he said on At the Races: 1) American breeders don't give stallions a chance to fail. 2) We've gotten away from racing ina sporting model and into racing as a bus...

Re: Golden Soul

Thanks, Flanders. That wasn't the news I'd hoped for. I looked up his last chart. Glad to see he was (most likely) still with Mr. Fipke's stable when he passed.

Golden Soul

He made a splash at the Derby, ran for a year or so after, but I can't find anything about him after 2015. Anyone have any info on him? I reached out to Dallas Stewart on Twitter, but who knows if /when he will have time to answer.

Re: Vet Allday to Breeders' Cup: 'You blew it'

The problem I have is that he (and other vets) precede this with "I haven't ever treated the horse and I don't have context on the video" before launching into the "It's obvious the horse is off". If you don't know the horse, how do you know he was ACTUALLY lame? If you have never examined the horse...

Re: Random News about Breeding and Breeders

It’s dumb advertising to say “the only two living TC winners”... because the last winner before those two was born in ‘75. LOL, no sillier than how they'd been advertising American Pharoah early on as the "only Grand Slam of racing winner in history". No mention that there was no Breeders Cup back ...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

Hip # 2146 .. a Colt (Summer Front-On the Menu), sold for one thousand. Was that the low price of the session? :? Summer Front X No Such Word (G1 winner) RNA'd for $1,000 - definitely not a good advertisement for the stallion. There were 2 other horses besides Summer Front X On the Menu sold for $1...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

Saw a Trip gelding for $500 with New Vocation i believe, and in NY. I loved the dam when she was racing and saw her at Arlington Park. I would love an offspring of hers, found a boarding facility 13 min from me for $450, but vet and farrier are extra. I told myself to be sure i have the commitment ...

Re: Haskell Day

I think his backing up suddenly was due to being squeezed and the loss of momentum cost him a chance at a better placing . It was a judgement call. Going into the race I saw him as probably third best behind Max and Mucho Gusto, provided the latter runs after shipping. I didn’t bet the race so in t...

I thought maybe they didn't DQ Maximum Security because Monmouth already looked bad for not cancelling yesterday's card., but that blog post sure does make it look much worst than that.
