Re: Across the pond

I'ts ridiculous. The US ADWs offer betting on the race, but don't show the race.

So, guess I won't give them my $$.

Re: Racing in Japan

Hi Tachyon, Any updates on Le Vent Se Lev? Are they still trying to bring him back or has he been retired due to persistent injuries? Thanks LVSL is still undergoing treatment. His future plan is unknown. But I won't be surprised if he retires before next breeding season... THIS was my all time fav...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

What were the readings on the other horses who had positives?
Does anyone know........YET?

Also, somewhat off topic: Can anyone tell me why Baffert never races in Florida?

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Not sure where your home track is, but if you're ever in the Santa Anita neighborhood, you now have a standing invitation to be there at sunrise someday and take a leisurely stroll around the backside barns. It can work wonders for the attitude, just maybe even let you fall in love all over again! ...

Ahhh yes, racing has changed, most of it for the better but life ain't always perfect, nor is it always fair.
this isn't about the good ol' days, perfection or fairness.

This is about a cover up.

Do you always obsfucate like this? Maybe people don't call you on it.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm STILL involved in horse racing. Just not U.S. horse racing. Plenty of good stuff to follow elsewhere. ;)

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I'm not moving any goal posts Salad. But I will point out that horse racing is basically the same sport you fell in love with, if it was the 60s, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's, or the 2000's. Some of the names have changed but that's about all. The fact that you now have the internet and want to rea...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

The problem with identifying corruption within the CHRB and demanding they all be fired is, well..... As with any elected/appointed officials in California there is plenty of finger pointing to go around. From state taxes, to water shortages to oil shutdowns to homeless, to delta smelt, to sanctuar...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I'm guessing you would be okay with a journalist explaining things if only you agreed with his findings.' After all, it was a journalist who introduced you to this story. A journalist BROKE the story. Follow-up on a story, involving facts and numbers, is what many people are looking for and not get...

Why get a journalist to explain rather than a veterinary pharmacologist or toxicologist?

Street Band <3 She's really come along. NEVER underestimate a Larry Jones filly anyway.......he is quite good with fillies. And as I said earlier, I love sophie doyle so I was happy to see this win. It was the only thing I got right all day. In the Cotillion, I can't bet BOTH favorites, as that off...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I've decided to take a break from U.S. racing after all this. Over the pond you can "depend" on horses that are stayers to BE stayers.....Stradivarius, etc. They can actually repeat themselves. I believe it's because they are racing cleaner, recuperate better, and have more patient training regimes....

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Coupled with the relatively recent banning of thyroxine, it gives the impression that a lot of these regulations are far more reactive than proactive. I did not know thryroxine was on the banned list. Is it even banned for horses DIAGNOSED with a thyroid disorder who are being treated for such----i...

. Most who voiced an opinion had their mind up well ahead of time, in fact they're already ready for a public hanging the next time backstretch news is reported. Are you talking about voiced opinions HERE? Many of the posts, esp. by Tessa, were very indepth and involved far more critical thinking t...

Re: The Pennsylvania Derby Saturday

So back to thoughts about the races. The PA derby was orig. supposed to be big showdown match race between WoW and Max, and that isnt' happening anymore. Looks like Mr. Money will be the "wise guy horse" based on what I see friends talking about. I never wager the wise guy horse to win a race. Right...

What say you? About the poll itself, or are you asking for opinions.......if the latter, everyone pretty much already gave their opinions and thoughts about the irregularities that they perceive in this situation. As for the poll, if you want the right answers, you have to ask the right questions. ...

and to add to what Tessa said, knowing how the other horses tested is something we need to know. As has been brought up, a contamination level as high as Justify had........that would have called for a broad announcement to each and every horseman and barn at SA.......to not do so showed a complete ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

And while I suppose people can decry the messenger as much as they want, three things remain absolute truths that have not been disputed by any party involved: 1. Baffert has a history of giving horses potentially harmful substances for non-veterinary reasons. 2. Justify tested well above the legal...

severe case of colic and a displacement of the large colon........sounds pretty serious. I'm glad they got him to veterinarian, this can kill a horse.

He has always seemed like a rather fragile one. Of course, a lot of them are.

Baffert could go to Keeneland and buy horses and he and Jill race them, but he’s too smart for that.
