Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018

anyone have an update on Jon Court? never mind. Jon will be out the rest of the season since he sustained a j collapsed lung after before the a race Feb 13 at OP. He's 59 years old. Horse racing nation finally decided to mention the injury, on February 21st. Guess news of human injuries travels slo...

Re: Taraz...

You essentially want training accidents excluded from the count? Nowhere in my post did I say that, either. This "very odd" idea that anyone wants to sweep stuff under the rug is certainly not in any of my posts. I'm not the CHRB. :) ALL incidents involving injuries and/or deaths should of course, ...

Re: Report: Zayat Sued for $23 Million, Sold Shares in American Pharoah

I'd like to see the "littlest" people get paid first-those whom his outstanding bills could be make or break for them such as feed suppliers, trainers, vets, etc. It would also be nice if some of the trainers paid their hard working employees on the backside their due, but as we have seen with some...

Re: Taraz...

Exactly. Not a friend of PETA, but training accidents still need to get counted (finally) and not just get swept under the rug with the magic "get out of jail free" card of being "just" a training accident. The word "just" wasn't used anywhere in my post. Nor was there anything about "sweeping stuf...

Re: Taraz...

And she is still dead. Perhaps you, and others, missed the reason for my post. Someone posted that breakdowns were "very concerning" and seemed to be singling out Oaklawn. I was merely posting what I know about that particular track in terms of safety. That breakdowns are "very concerning" is not a...

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018

Who even goes to Atwoods type store to buy their horse meds, instead of using their vet?

This is just so creepy.

Re: Taraz...

So so terribly sad. 4 breakdowns since Sat at Oaklawn is very concerning. First of all, training accidents are not the same as racing breakdowns. As for track safety, few people know that EVERY YEAR, Oaklawn digs out its entire racing surface of dirt, sand and silt to the base, and replaces portion...

Re: G2 Risen Star(s) 1 1-8th Saturday @ Fairgrounds

I didn't follow this stakes at all. Quite frankly, I was not very familiar with most of the horses.........I guess you have to play Gulfstream to know a lot of these? I never watch or play GS. Mostly just the NY tracks, Oaklawn and Asia.

Friday update from Jon White.... “Honor A.P., who missed the Sham when all was not well, debuts on the Top 10 this week following a positive update on the 3-year-old’s status by Ed Golden in last Saturday’s Santa Anita stable notes. Re: Bramlage's Mongolian Groom report

I just worry what happens when the info falls into the hands of the enemy. How will they interpret it and is it still beneficial for general distribution? I don't understand this kind of thinking. I am busy thinking about all the ways to make horse racing better and in this case, all the "stuffs" t...

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

Your memory is better than mine, maybe you can remember the early speedsters that won Graded Stakes?.... Great memory, Stark, this list is very good. I once read an interview with him and I came away with the impression that's he training all his horses to be Zenyatta. Specifically, telling workout...

When I fractured ribs from my horse flipping over on me, nothing showed on the xrays. The healed fractures showed up on the xrays I needed 6 months later when I had another xray taken.
ditto, I was in a similar situation.

Re: Stormy Liberal gets trainer switch

Nothing good can come from Stormy Liberal continuing to race. But oh so much can go wrong. Let the almost 8-year-old multi-millionare eat grass at Old Friends. Agree. What could possibly go wrong with a horse who will be 8 in January, and has been on the track for 6 years? This is why we need retir...

Re: Stormy Liberal gets trainer switch

The owner has responded (from horseracingnation) "Peter Miller never mentioned retirement of the horse until Monday after he was informed the horse was being removed from his barn that afternoon and in fact, it was my understanding that he was trying to run him at Del Mar just last week except the ...

This brouhaha caused me to go back and look at the 2018 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint. What a horse! And ears go straight up when he hits the wire, lol! https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=2018+breeders+cup+turf+sprint&view=detail&mid=EC6F4A38FF0BCB2FC035EC6F4A38FF0BCB2FC035&FORM=VIRE Good to know the ...

Re: Stormy Liberal gets trainer switch

I totally understand Miller going public with this. If anything happens to the horse he wants to be clear he had nothing to do with it. I don't know what Miller did to the horse during his career. Did the horse have injuries that were covered up with meds, etc. like so many horses do? Maybe the hor...

Re: Stormy Liberal gets trainer switch

I also don't think it's the lack of "rescue" organizations or rescue money (I don't like that word because Stormy Liberal does not need rescued, he's not in a kill lot or was left abandoned on a property). MY POINT wasn't about him in particular. When I own an animal, I am responsible for it for li...
