Re: Travers 2019

I'm not sure sending Tacitus to duel with MG on the front was best for the big grey in the long run. :? Not for a classic distance race for sure. The stamina horse will come along and take you down in the stretch ..... which is what happened. CoH is all stamina. His mare side numbers were best in t...

Re: Well-known racehorses who went on to second careers

This is a great topic!

Didn't read it all the way thru yet, but my contribution would be Mr. Hot Stuff.

Gawd, he was one gorgeous hunk o' horse when he ran in the KY Derby and was my longshot. Turns out he's not a flat racer

[In all seriousness though, if a track near you has Native American Relay Racing, go see it. That’s quite a spectacle. Terrific athletes.

Re: Travers 2019

Travers is a watch only race for me as I probably won't get my odds. I can really only see Code of Honor or Mucho Gusto winning this. Longshots for the win: Bikinis or Everfast --- at least I'll get some odds on them huh? SAR is not my track so .......good luck to everyone. I give endorsed and tax z...

Re: Saratoga 2019

I watched SAR for a few weeks.......too chalky for my tastes to actually bother wagering .

I played a few "on paper" in some contests. Even losing interest in that. So many scratches.

The TDN article actually states that Hammerle was fired.
Pretty sure Oaklawn picked him up now.

Re: Uh, Wrona was just fired

Well, if they want the new people as the "face of Santa Anita", they would have to up their pay quite a bit, I would think, to cover the dark periods. Or, are they planning to race the whole year? I can see where driving Del Mar and Los Alamitos out of business would appeal to Stronach. More import...

Re: The Million Dollar G1 Whitney Stakes

For Imperative’s sake, I hope he plods around and is retired. I’m rooting for Thunder Snow in this! LOve TS. I think this may be a little short of his optimum (which is 10F BCC style) but he can win from a mile and upwards as proved....... If you look at the BCC official page I had to laugh how 250...

Re: The Million Dollar G1 Whitney Stakes

Imperative? He last ran in April's Charles Town Classic, where he finished 8th and last. He has not won in over two years. I fear his present connections are going to run this venerable gelding into the ground...until something breaks. The nine-year-old was once a very good racehorse, and he deserv...

he deserves admiration for how hard he runs no matter the adversity.
Just to be clear, in no way was I levelling scorn on Tacitus. I thought his almost falling down out of the gate, the getting back into the race the way he did, showed real "warrior" horse.

I just want to express my sympathy to eveyrone in Japan, and to all thoroughbred fans the world over, about the death of Deep Impact.

He was still so young

Re: Big Saturday @ The Spa

What happened with War of Will? He seems like the type of horse that when he is on, he is really good, but when he is off, he's really bad. I still think Omaha Beach is the most talent 3yr old, but that, of course, remains to be seen. Not a huge Omaha Beach fan, at least not in terms of talking abo...

Re: The greatness of a nation and its moral progress

Won't ever be enough rescues places to take them all. Before placing a horse onto the racetrack for a career, when registered with the Jockey Club, a fee should be paid that FOLLOWS the horse thru it's career, (AND supplemented by $$ per race that they run in) to cover their aftercare/post race trac...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

None of the trainers I worked for ever used water withdrawal. If a horse bleeds, they are rested for a few weeks. If they bleed again, they're retired. That's more humane than pumping them full with Lasix and other drugs. ;) The climate we have here (Germany, France, England, Italy) isn't really di...

he is just so hard to root for. If only he cared about the women in his life as much as he cared about the horses. I have no idea how the many thousands of thoroughbred race horse trainers treat their wives. Since most are not tabloid-worthy subject matter. So rooting or not rooting for them...

What i do not like about these "bans" is that nobody is telling us exactly WHY the person is being banned. It's like a big secret. then they'll say stuff like "I wish you could see the necropsies reports" which is taking people down a blind alley, because they would not be available while something ...

I diagnose Blue Point with chronic Big Baby Disease. indeed. At any rate, the entire Ascot meet was simply a feast for the eyes, I enjoyed it very much. I also like the big fields but less races per day. I have no desire to see 10-14 races on any day, it's just exhausting and I don't even loo...

Re: Princess Haya, wife of Sheikh Mohammed, Flees Dubai

I don't believe King Hussein had multiple wives simultaneously the way UAE sheiks like Sheik Mo do. And his last wife, Noor, was an American. It leaves me wondering why her father allowed the marriage to take place. Usually you do not get to marry someone if your family is against it in those cultu...
