Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

I don't think this has been posted here already... Golden Julia (Dreaming of Julia '17) died on the 30th May. She was found distressed in her stall at Saratoga, sent to a vet clinic but died there of acute blood loss (per NYS reports) :( :( Accuse blood loss? WTH? Someone didn’t pay attention. Poor...

Re: In Memoriam 2019

@DRFMcGee Per @keenelandracing stewards, Amandine suffered injuries during R8 on the turf course here yesterday that necessitated her euthanization. Extremely unfortunate. Stakes-winning British-bred 4yo filly was G1-placed.

R.I.P :(

Re: Waiting for news on ...

Amandine went wrong, vanned off in race 8 at Keeneland today. I’ve not been able to find an update on her. Any news? I was THERE and I couldn't get any news. The outriders have a code of silence and refuse to say anything about injured horses. Just seen this :( @DRFMcGee Per @keenelandracing stewar...

Re: Across the pond

Does anyone know what racing in Scotland is like? I know they have a Grand National, but what else and do they breed or just import from England and Ireland? They have 5 racecourses; Ayr, Hamilton, Perth, Kelso and Musselburgh, which hold a mix of flat and jumps. Trainers tend to send their horses ...

Re: Question about Veterinarian Scratches

It could be a number of reasons: Lameness Unlevel movement Injuries in the walking ring / saddling enclosure Injuries at the starting gate Horses getting kicked Cuts or abrasions that the vet isn’t happy for the horse to race with I’ve seen horses scratched because they’re bit their tongue on the wa...

Re: Racing in UK cancelled due to equine influenza

It is all across the news here in the UK. We live near Newmarket and Huntingdon. I think it would be wise, for all people who had contact to infected horses, to stay away from any other equine facility. My gosh it‘s foaling season. The roads are full of trailer with mares who are on their way to th...

The 5 unnamed horses presumably include

Like Really Smart (1/21)
Last Promise Kept (1/21)

(listed in text of Stewards Reports as euthanized.)
Yes you’re right, I clearly wasn’t paying too much attention to the dates

Some lovely comments on twitter and such regarding the Robert B Lewis with Gunmetal Gray's hoof, Mucho Gusto's bloody mouth in the crossing the finish line and poor Kid Cantina being euthanized :( Just looked at the chart and saw the comment that Kid Cantina wore calks. ?? I thought they were outla...

Re: Waiting for news on ...

I'd like to look at the fact that injured horses are vanned back to their barns from a more hopeful side. They get exams and various diagnostic scans done by their own vets. There are advancements in treatments for some injuries, so getting the horse back to their stall gives it a chance to be thor...

Re: In Memoriam 2019

Work rider Natasha Galpin died yesterday after the horse she was riding on the gallops collapsed fatally from a ruptured artery at Iain Jardine’s stable.

Natasha also ran her own yard and competed in eventing.

Awful tragedy
