I've never liked the name Hoof Hearted. I've always wondered how that name was ever accepted by the Jockey Club.
Not sure why it should be rejected - it’s a play in the term “half-hearted”

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

Well the good news is that Honor A.P. is back jogging - more x-rays proved negative. So, I guess if he doesn't have any further setbacks, he's ok to proceed...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Spice is Nice, a 3 year old daughter of Curlin out of G1 winner Dame Dorothy, broke her maiden by 12 lengths at GP yesterday.

I adored Dame Dorothy, and of course I love Bernardini - he's a terrific broodmare sire. I don't know how I didn't see this yesterday, lol

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

Yeah I don't think the dislike stems from him as a person, but how he trains. You can push a horse too much, and you can push them too little. Sherriffs is generally considered to push his horses far too little. Zenyatta was a late bloomer who required a lot of patience and easy-going. Zenyatta was...

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

It's hard enough to handicap the horses, but here you have to handicap the trainers equally as much. As in this case......I'd need 300/1 or so to consider a future book wager on Sherriffs. I know this board is generally not fans of JS, but why? Because he’s overly patient? In any case, this colt ha...

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

I'm hoping to see Honor A.P. back on there, but I understand why Jon White and others have completely left him off. Until word is given that he's ok, you have to assume he's going to miss too much time. It's hard enough to handicap the horses, but here you have to handicap the trainers equally as m...

Re: Stallion temperament or personality

I’ve heard that my baby, A.P. Indy, is a sweetheart...and that another son of Slew, Slew o’Gold, was so friendly and easygoing that kids could be put on his back. I haven’t heard anything indicating that Tapit has any meanness in him; he no doubt gets his feistiness from his own sire, Pulpit - who w...

Re: 2019 Eclipse Awards-Predictions?

British Idiom will win, and while I'm not saying she's undeserving, too many voters don't really pay attention and pretty much just look at the BC ( which is why Storm the Court is almost a certain winner...not that there are a boatload of super deserving candidates ). However, I could vote for Bas...

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Maybe someone can answer this for me because I'm confused. Unfortunately (at least for me, as I was dying of anticipation) Honor A.P. will not run in the Los Alamitos Futurity and will point to the Sham Stakes in January. I guess I'm confused because the colt is really sharp now - based on his works...

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Independence Hall (by Constitution) won the Remsen (G3) at Aqueduct today by 12 1/2 lengths. Nashua....the Remsen is on 12/7. This was easily the most impressive 2YO performance of the year, anywhere in North America, on any surface. It was freakishly good. You need to watch if you haven't seen thi...

Re: Honor Code ...

For comparison. Tonalist's fee was $15K this year, and for 2020 its the same. He's 12 on the First-Crop list. No stakes horses. Honor Code's was $40K this year, and $30K for 2020. He's 14 on the First-Crop list. No stakes horses. Liam's Map gets an increase from $20K to $35K for 2020. He's currentl...

Re: Honor Code ...

I’m not sure if this doesn’t belong in the Breeding forum now, but Lane’s End dropped HC’s stud fee to $30,000. I know he doesn’t have a stakes winner, but isn’t that discouraging ? Does that mean that HC is no longer in demand? Not surprised by that drop at all. I think this coming year will be a ...

Re: Honor Code ...

I don't think it is discouraging, it's realistic. He's had a good, not great, start, and they can't justify a fee increase or keeping it the same until he gets some stakes winners. If he was no longer in demand, he wouldn't be at Lane's End standing for $30,000. He covered 138 mares in 2019 so I wo...

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

I read an article posted a couple of hours ago that describes Honor AP's stride as choppy.... I agree with the writer that he does have a high knee action, but I don't think it's choppy; granted, I'm no stride expert, but he looks pretty smooth to me. This writer says he'll have a hard time stretchi...

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Honor A.P. looked amazing - he’s a gorgeous, hunk of a horse who won as he pleased. I love that he’s got speed, but obviously can come from behind as well... Really liked this guy in his first start glad to see he came back a strong winner. A plus for his sire too- I know there is were some here wh...
