Re: First Winners

Also AP's handsome, 'plain bay' coloring. I love a horse with no flashy, splashy white. :P

GD's udder is showing in that photo, so it appears she's 'bagging up.'

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

Omaha Beach : Getting good at the right time, tough in a dogfight, and maybe Mike Smith. Tacitus : Because that pedigree! Roadster : Tactical, with a turf horse-type stretch kick. Concern with him is that he's not a stout colt, so getting body-slammed in that big field could be an issue. Maximum Se...

Re: Apple Blossom (gr. I)

Mike Smith had a pretty good weekend at Oaklawn. I think he took home about $100,000. :D

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

Mike Smith also has a good connection with Mr. Porter, for whom he rode the wonderful filly, Songbird. It's going to be a tough choice for Mike, as both colts have a lot going for them. My preference would be Omaha Beach, who seems to be a more strongly-built colt than the lighter-framed Roadster. I...

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

I wonder if there's any particular reason Omaha Beach's tail is kept in a bob.

Quite a few runners had their tails up in a braid or bob today at Oaklawn due to the rain and mud.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

I don't know if Japanese money has contributed terribly to the pools?

I wonder if there was a bump for Lani? He was very popular with Japanese fans, so that year may have given some evidence of increased wagering from Japan...or not.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

I don't even know why CDI cares about international participant-ship anyway. Have you ever seen the figures for Japanese or Chinese wagering? :P I can understand why CDI would try to entice those fans to put some of that humongous pile o' money on a horse in which they have a home-grown interest.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

According to this Paulick article, Anothertwistafate now has 38 Points. Most years, that's enough to get in, but I don't know about this year. :?

Squeaky: Gave Hughie a nice head butt in the winners circle when he tried to kiss her on the nose and split his lip ( ow) -feisty until the end! Right! Thanks for reminding me. Hugh needs to remember that, if you nuzzle your horse, she may decide to give you a happy ( and energetic ) head bonk right...

Re: Winx

That was a rather incredible goodbye that Hugh and Winx gave the fans. And she was SO good about taking those laps past the noisy crowd, even though she looked like she was missing her earmuffs a few times. Watching her jog proudly, even after just running full-out not long ago, kind of gave me goos...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

I'm glad Delta Prince got that G1 win (which I thought he already had  ). That should seal the deal for his stallion resume. Good racehorse, really good-looking and phenomenal, can't-get-any-better-than, by the late, great Street Cry out of the late, great Delta Princess pedigree.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

This isn't a cheap horse.

No kidding. He's from Scat Daddy's last crop, so if he wins any of the TC races, he is going to be very, very valuable as a stallion.

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

Galilean got quite a vote of confidence (or at least an investment in his future) from powerhouse Coolmore:
