Re: New Conformation Photos

Those are very nice portraits. I especially LOVE the fact they didn't Photoshop out the lead lines. There is nothing about retouching out the lead lines that makes your stallion look better...and sometimes it looks obvious and stupid. ETA: And Jack Hobbs is still looking as gorgeous as ever. ;)

Re: New Conformation Photos

I've never found War Front to be very attractive, but dang, he sires some good-looking offspring. 8-)

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018

Are there any concussion protocols for jockeys at the tracks? :?
If he hit his head so hard that he was found still unconscious, it seems very likely that he suffered a concussion. I'm not sure I'd want a rider on my horse who might still be suffering the after affects of one. :(

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018

Has there been any update of Bejarano's condition? I haven't found anything about his injury on the usual racing sites. :?

Re: New Conformation Photos

Upstart is handsome...and isn't he a full to the late Jump Start? I thought those two 'Indy sons were very underrated; IIRC, Jumpstart had some excellent filly runners. I hope his last couple of crops run lights out.

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

Thanks for remembering Mentor Cane, TA. He was such a gorgeous steel grey, and looked like he was about to become a real G1 sprinter when he tragically died suddenly. :(

Re: Stallion News

Japan would have been nice, but its breeders seem mainly interested in stallions who have turf breeding, or who have shown versatility in their own careers. Shack' was a dirt runner and, IIRC, all his best offspring have run on the brown stuff. Korea, however, has dirt racing and the breeders appear...

Re: New Conformation Photos

His topline and tail set are pretty reminiscent of his Arabian ancestors, as well.
He's a gorgeous steed. 8-)

Re: 2020 Matings

It makes sense to take Laurens to Invincible Spirit, since that stallion is now in his 20s.
While unexpected things can happen, it's most likely she will have plenty of years ahead to visit the young No Nay Never.

Re: 2018 foals

Do you remember those attractive jocks in high school, who never seemed to be troubled by any 'awkward' stage? That Maurice/Buena Vista colt looks like that. From what I've seen, Maurice is throwing some good-looking offspring...but that chestnut takes the prize. <3 If he showed up at a Keenel...

Russell Crowe was not at the Golden Globes tonight to walk on stage to be awarded his statue. The presenters said he was in Australia with his family, and they may have mentioned something about 'defending his home.' :?

Re: Stallion News

Maybe he's not as stupid as some other TBs? :P ;) If you look at it objectively from the horse's point of view, there are a lot of things about training that aren't exactly comfortable for a horse. If Max' has decided that exerting himself while training is no fun at all, his workouts may never look...

Re: Stallions and Mares Stolen in Attack on Al Shaab Stud

If the attackers were criminals who are more interested in money than anything else, maybe they could be ransomed.
But there are other motives out there...
...and it hurts to contemplate those.

Re: New Conformation Photos

Call me crazy, but I'm feeling more Storm Cat than Galileo when I look at The Ferryman. Maybe it's a bit of 'Cat fire. ;) Whichever great bay sire you think he resembles, IMHO that's a really handsome horse. I'm drawing a blank on his race record, and I'm too tired to head over to RacingPost to do s...

Bouncy is fine. Aiming powerful rear-leg kicks straight at someone's head crosses the line from 'bouncy' to homicidal.
That colt should have a big, red bow tied into his tail, along with a skull & crossbones caution sign. :P

Re: Favorite Photos of Race Horses

Yikes...while I may admire the fact that the person loves horses that much, if you're going to get something as permanent as a tattoo, find an artist who can DRAW.  That may be the ugliest, most anatomically-incorrect equine I've seen since Stronach's butt-ugly Pegasus statue.
