Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Whips and whipping are a necessity. They help guide the horse as well as urge it to speed. Leave their use to the jocks, not some idiot overseer.

Someone will absorb the cost of the increased medical tests. Who do you think that will be, and who do you think will fold up shop first?

The photographer on FB, Matt Wooley is saying good bye to Santa Anita. PETA will be all over this.
Mongolian Groom was a favorite of mine, but PETA must not be allowed to define the future of the sport.

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

You gotta stop enabling the problems of this sport and ragging on people who want it better. If you don't think anything will change or the public at large won't care, that's fine and not wrong. But people being sick of it isn't a bad thing. Well said. Thank you. If you were in a position to actual...

Independence Hall (Constitution) broke his maiden September 21. Like his half-brother Black Onyx , he's as close you can get to black while being registered as dark bay. http://www.winstarfarm.com/Domains/www.winstarfarm.com/CMSFiles/Images/NewsFeatureImages/constitution_09-21-19_P_02_IndependenceH...

She sold, unreserved, for $14,000.
Is that a decent price?

I watched. They had to adjust the camera.

Re: Racing in Japan

I think I can understand why the farms may be reacting so strongly. It was just a bit of mane this time but, if a someone was able to commit that vandalism, it also means that they got close enough to the horse to actually HURT him if they chose to. :( People are weird...and too often can be really...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

You never know what gems are hiding in those thousand dollar babies. Lots of pedigree variety, would make a nice broodmare band probably. Weird knowing that I can go to keeneland right now and be able to afford one of these guys. What would I do with him afterwards though? My thoughts exactly.

Hip # 2146 .. a Colt (Summer Front-On the Menu), sold for one thousand. Was that the low price of the session?

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

I admit that I do not get why some horses sell at the prices they do. The hip # 1302 Candy Ride colt sold for 4k...did they not like his looks, breeding, presentation?

Also, is there a way of looking up a horse once it's racing to see the original sale price?

Logician, who just won the St. Leger, is registered as roan. But isn’t it impossible for Tbreds to be roan? Or is it just a registry thing and he’s not actually a true roan?
Looks gray to me.

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Thoroughbred race horse owners and trainers care nothing about color. They want speed and toughness.

But I still like seeing a successful, colorful race horse, like the white race horses in Japan.

Re: Uh, Wrona was just fired

I'd read that Wrona was going to call at Kentucky Downs, although that's only a five-day boutique meet. But IIRC he also was slated to call at Oaklawn Park starting with their next meet. Will he be able to work there AND be a full-time caller at Los Al? :? LosAl is pretty much a year-round operatio...
