Re: New Stallions of 2020

"i can guarantee it, no one remembers him for that reason...." I'm pretty sure most members of this forum ( to say nothing of actual breeders ) remember his two World Cup wins quite well, even if you don't. :P Oh, absolutely I remember MOST his two World Cups, the only horse to do it! And that got ...

Re: Question about breakdowns

These discussions seem to be all over different threads, so hard to know where this belongs. I agree with you, Vandalay. Those crooked trainers need to go and that they are tolerated because they fill races is the reason I do not think track owners are the best entities to lead meaningful change. It...

Re: Keeneland November 2019

Really surprised Take Charge Brandi only went for $3.2 million when she sold in 2015 for $6 million. Also being that she is a 1/2 to Omaha Beach, she is only 7, her first foal is only 2 and her female family(being a grand daughter of Take Charge Lady). In 2015 and 2019, Hill n Dale is listed as the...

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

Yeah, I follow Graham Motion on Twitter and he's been spot on about the need for improvement in this sport. My initial reaction was similar...like "oh God no, just two furlongs away after two straight days of great racing..." I keep coming back to this quote in a letter to the editor printed last Ap...

TDN Podcast: Pletcher on Mongolian Groom Tragedy: We Have To Do Better In this week’s TDN Writers’ Room Podcast, future Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher didn’t mince words when talking about the breakdown of Mongolian Groom (Hightail) in the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the rash of breakdowns that h...

Interesting article with details I haven't seen reported elsewhere. Later in the article are the reasons he was on the vet's list twice, and his vet's take on the type of injury he suffered. Vet, Trainer Say Mongolian Groom Sound Before Classic Veterinarian Vince Baker and trainer Enebish Ganbat bot...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Oh, I too think some of TSG's reforms were good. And I definitely think they could do more. Disclosure of veterinary records and the diagnostic scanning machines may be even more important to horse health and safety than what they've already done. And the data says there are fewer fatalities on synt...

I don't have to energy to go through all this again. So I'll just sum it up like this: There is a difference between people who believe the sport is intrinsically baseless and cruel (an extremist position that literally nobody on this forum endorses) and people who believe that the sport in its cur...

Racing’s turbulent year continues: Breeders’ Cup marred by breakdown in final race By Tim Layden They came to California this weekend to race, but also to heal, and in the most public way possible. Owners, trainers, breeders, jockeys. And horses. Most of all, the horses. They came from Europe and A...

I'd definitely go with experience over some doc or radiologist whose qualifications and exp...

I doubt they'll soup up the track this weekend. All the chatter has been about how deep and tiring the track is...people are plenty prepared but not sure about the horses. I'm finding it difficult to account for that in my handicapping.
