Re: Santa Anita 2019

A comprehensive article from the TDN. I really do hope they take a look at Churchill Downs' fatality rates before they make a decision to move the BC there. Re: Santa Anita 2019

Yes, BaroqueAgain1, if folks really want to learn and prevent and reduce fatalities in horse racing, they MUST define and differentiate the causes of current fatalities. I don't see enough of that as part of any of these articles and discussions. God save us, there was another fatality today. Truffa...

He is the kind of trainer who should be run out of the sport FOREVER. It seems the rescue community and others have been reporting on his behavior for a long time. At least the CHRB are taking them seriously now. Pender Suspended 30 Days By CHRB For ‘Animal Welfare’ Violation California Horse Racing...

Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

Wow. What a perfect day. We didn't win much, but my hair is still straight and my foundation hasn't slid off my face. Perfect temperature and no humidity. Much, much less crowded than the past few years and a tame crowd. Still have to thank Tessa for the secret 3rd floor bathroom that saved my life...

Re: Equibase chart notes

Those really are nice and detailed chart notes, Della. I read all the chart notes for my favorite horses including, of course, those I own and others in the barn. Sometimes it drives me nuts, when I can see with my own eyes they are trying so hard. Then the notes say something like "made no impact."...

I’d certainly look into the use of Bisphosphonates in the deaths of these young horses. Plus there have been some studies associating Bisphosphonates use with cardiac issues, at least in humans. Congrats Gal was thought to have died as a result of cardiac arrest after the Miss Preakness at Pimlico. ...

Another atypical injury, and he's an unraced 2 year old with only three May workouts at Santa Anita. According to Equibase, he was bought as a yearling at Keeneland September for $160k and sold as a 2 year old in training at Ocala in March for $50k. His breeze time was 10.4.
