@ Winbak Farm Not a thoroughbred, but check out this standardbred colt by Bettor's Delight , out of Makes You Wonder (Jenna's Beach Boy). Someone in the comments suggested the name "Roman Knows". LOL... He certainly has one of those! Bless his heart, at first glance I thought he was a mule. H...

Wasn't there some info last week that Conquest Tsunami was being retired, through one of the big re-training outfits, I forget which one?
I was thinking the same thing, but I get all those Conquest names confused.

Edit: it was Conquest Typhoon

Despite its name, El Segundo Sand isn’t sand as one would encounter along the beach but a sandy loam consisting of sand, silt and clay.
I get it now. I thought it was just sand and didn't understand what was so special about it. Your posts have been very helpful!

He's a huge loss. So sad.

As an aside, does WinStar still exercise some of their stallions under saddle?

I may be way off base here, but didn't the new track superintendent start right when the problems started happening? I haven't seen him mentioned anywhere except in passing. Maybe there's something in his maintenance routine that's not working with the track. I don't want to pass blame onto one pers...

He's still in training and has been working at Palm Beach Downs
Thank you! I always liked him, even before Bolt came along. He seemed to get thrown in over his head quite a bit.

What's so special about El Segundo and? I Googled it but didn't find much info other than it's drought resistant. Is it because it's local?

I did not realize FHF had had it's hand on BOM and Rick Porter had named him. https://www.drf.com/top-news/hovdey-battle-of-midway-news-a-punch-to-the-gut-458102 Isn't it considered bad luck to change a name? I have a hunch that had nothing to do with it. No, but old superstitions die hard.

The hormone question is a good one, they regulate bone growth, it just wasn't BOM's issue. His sperm cells specifically had impregnation problems. Re: Filly who swished her tail

Sharp Cat? I just watched the 98 Beldame & it didn't look to be her. Such a nice mare. That's because her tail was tied tightly. She was a tail swisher. Watch her second in the BC Distaff. Not a lot of her races are available. Maybe it was her! That looks like what I remember. I was a fan of hers a...

Re: Filly who swished her tail

I have a vague memory to that effect but some horses will swish their tails in protest for being whipped. I'll wrack my brains for a specific filly, though. McKinzie was the horse that got me started on this after I noticed him swish his tail in his last race. He's definitely protesting. This filly...
