Re: Saturday Gulfstream Watchalong

Impressive win for TTL, although with an 80 - 1 shot finishing second makes me question the overall quality of the rest of the field. Hopefully TTL stays healthy and gets a chance in the big classics down the road (assuming hopefully they all still get run at some point).

Re: 2020 Three-Year-Olds

The more I see of Charlatan, the more he reminds me of American Pharoah, especially his build, even to his short tail.

Re: Rebel Stakes Saturday @ Oaklawn

97 BSF for Nadal. The fractions are interesting. Very fast early of course but then a very slow 27+ quarter from 3/4 to one mile, but then when the long shot threatened him, he went faster the final sixteenth. I noticed that too. Also interesting as Randy Moss pointed out at the link below.... Exce...

Re: Rebel Stakes Saturday @ Oaklawn

Maybe, just maybe, another trainer or two will some day learn the secret to Baffert's success.... it's really very simple - he trains the old fashioned way. There's an old saying in other sports such as golf and basketball - "never leave it short". The reason... if you do, you don't give yourself a ...

Re: 2020 Three-Year-Olds

He may not have beaten much but Charlatan was nonetheless very impressive going 1 mile in his second start at SA. With Authentic, Nadal, Charlatan and possibly one or two others, Baffert appears loaded if they all stay healthy and run the big race in May or later.

Re: Rebel Stakes Saturday @ Oaklawn

Nadal is the real deal as he wires the field. He went fast early and stayed late in his two-turn debut, repulsing all those that would challenge him as they turned for home with a longshot coming from last to run a good second.

The winner looks like he could run another lap
He sure did. We'll see what his closing time is but he appears to be the real deal. He also has the name of a TC winner.

Re: 2020 Fountain of Youth

Impressive win by EI. His performance in here, receiving a 97 BSF, flatters Tiz the Law who received a 101 BSF in the Holy Bull. EI has nice stamina influence on his dam's side through Verbatim and Graustark 4x back. In fact, it's great to see Graustark that close-up in a pedigree nowadays, arguably...

They also went very fast early - 21+/44+ and Nadal was coming back pretty quickly. Final time 1:22 and change. All things considered, I'd say he showed himself very well.

Re: G3 Sam Davis 1 1-16th Today @ Tampa

The rider appeared to have a strong hold on IH until nearing the end of turn-two. Perhaps they should change tactics next out and allow him more rein.

Really looking forward to seeing Nadal in this one. I'll be surprised if he doesn't win by at least several lengths. Here's the link to his recent work:

I commented earlier that Nadal looked enormous. Apparently his listed weight was 1,323 lbs! :o
For being so large, he appears to be very agile/nimble on the track, akin to a power forward in basketball that moves like a guard. Btw, he received a 98 BSF in his debut.

Re: 2020 Three-Year-Olds

I don't know what Joel Rosario was doing in Dubai, but he may be sorry he didn't get back in time to ride Nadal at SA. (Blame x a Pulpit mare) Not surprisingly, pedigreequery lists about 15 "Nadals" including one from Serbia! Nadal very impressive in every way - not only in the race today but...

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Independence Hall was super impressive, receiving a 101 Beyer in winning the Nashua. Other than ducking out a bit in the stretch, he looked great as he closed the final 1/4-mile in 24 and 2. He also appears to be long in body and has Seattle Slew both top and bottom in his pedigree. The sky's the l...

Tiz the Law and Maxfield both looked absolutely fantastic today!
And better yet, neither are the typical, precocious 2yo that's bred to go one-turn. Both of these impressive winners should relish more distance based on their respective pedigrees and running style.

Maxfield very impressive in winning the Breeders Futurity by about 6 lengths. He's by Street Sense out of a Bernardini mare, so more distance should be no problem.

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Tiz the Law ( Constitution x Tizfiz ) just won the G1 Champagne in impressive fashion, finishing several lengths in front of Green Light Go. Looks like Sackatoga Stable may have another NY-bred Derby horse, although this one's still intact. :D Tiz the Law was very impressive and he's definitely bre...
