Tiz the Law and Maxfield both looked absolutely fantastic today!
And better yet, neither are the typical, precocious 2yo that's bred to go one-turn. Both of these impressive winners should relish more distance based on their respective pedigrees and running style.

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Maxfield very impressive in winning the Breeders Futurity by about 6 lengths. He's by Street Sense out of a Bernardini mare, so more distance should be no problem.

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Tiz the Law ( Constitution x Tizfiz ) just won the G1 Champagne in impressive fashion, finishing several lengths in front of Green Light Go. Looks like Sackatoga Stable may have another NY-bred Derby horse, although this one's still intact. :D Tiz the Law was very impressive and he's definitely bre...

What was the idea behind running these two year old stakes on a Friday instead of Saturday?

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

No mention of Mo Hawk? The first time Baffert starter at Los Al may not have beaten much, but he was nonetheless very impressive, both the race itself and his physical appearance.

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Very impressive win at DMR today by Eight Rings! By Empire Maker out of the Pure Prize mare Purely Hot and trained by Bob Baffert, definitely one to watch going forward. Reminds me somewhat of his sire in appearance/conformation.

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

Hat's off to Casse as he plans to run WoW in the Belmont. If so it looks like he will be one of the very few if not only horse to run in all three TC events.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

I would suggest people listen to two former jockeys, Rich Migliore and Tony Black, during the latter part of this recording (you can click the slider bar to the 01:16:00 mark, about 3/4s of the way to go straight there) : https://stevebyk.com/broadcast/part-2-johnny-d-rusty-arnold-bret-calhoun-tony-...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

What's not being considered is that War of Will appeared to be moving well before he was impeded. It's impossible to say that without the foul he would have placed better but there is no doubt he was improving his position before Maximum Security took his path away. Agreed. If anyone had a right to...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Agree... and with no money talking, no money lost. That horse never should have come down.
I've seen way worse in other races with no DQ.
That's the point. Yes, the rule(s) should always be abided by, but the application thereof does not always appear uniform, or so it seems.

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Agreed. Watching the replay, War of Will looked like he was about to run right over top of Maximum Security's butt. It is very lucky that he didn't clip heels with him. Had he fallen right there, yikes. And that was the point... yes, they were obviously close when he came out but they didn't clip h...

Is Haikal still in? I heard that he was going to be scratched.
Nope, he's out. War of Will moves out one spot.
Somebody may want to indicate that in the Derby Pool contest if it hasn't already been done.
