Re: Kobe Bryant

Kind of glad "Laker Jet" didn't win the 8th race at Santa Anita yesterday, conspiracy theorists would've had a heyday.

Re: Kobe Bryant

"...The Burbank Airport control tower allowed the helicopter to proceed northeast, following the Interstate 5 highway..." What? That helicopter supposedly left from John Wayne Airport after picking up baseball coach John Altobelli and his family. It was following the 101 west on their way to Thousa...

Re: The Saudi cup

Sounds to me like there's "house rules" to play by, not the typical invitation list of eligibles. ***** The winner of the Pegasus World Cup will be invited for the Saudi Cup even if not previously entered. Horses trained in Saudi Arabia will have the opportunity to secure a place in the starting lin...

Re: Kobe Bryant

It sounds like the cause of this crash may stem from negligence...the chopper is reported to have been flying in fog and weather conditions that grounded other choppers Excerpt from CNN report... The helicopter was operating under "special visual flight rules," according to an air traffic control c...

Re: The Saudi cup

As expected, the Saudi Cup invitation has been extended and Baffert said that both Mucho Gusto and McKinzie would depart from Santa Anita on Feb. 18.

“The race is $20 million at a mile and one eighth on Feb. 29,” he said.

Re: Kobe Bryant

Unlike the crazy rules horse racing has, the NBA makes you wait several years after retirement for HOF induction, Kobe would've been eligible this year.

Re: 2020 Pegasus World Cup

I bet him to show and was thrilled to see him get up there. I had to watch the replay to appreciate his great stretch run - from the lower boxes, the view from the turn to the stretch is now completely blocked by a monstrosity of a temporary grandstand - my once perfect Floriday Derby seats are now...

Re: 2020 Pegasus World Cup

Yes Higher Power surprised and disappointed me. Perhaps it just wasn't his day and he's alright. Maybe no Lasix affected him..... Very curious to know if the post race scoping results to determine bleeding for all horses will be made public? Comments usually come from trainers the next day in searc...

I had a dream that these same contributors showed an equal amount of articulate passion while discussing handicapping the next big race, the Triple Crown etc.
Like I said, just a dream. ;)

Re: 2020 Three-Year-Olds

Pletcher first timer MARKET ANALYSIS looked good enough first time out today in Gulfstream 4th going 7F to break his maiden. Cost $250,000 for Winstar/China, could be any kind going forward. BUT......when a 50/1 shot is bearing down to make it close at the wire, ya gotta wonder just a little bit, no?

Re: 2020 Pegasus World Cup

Anybody trying to handicap the Lasix-Off angle? Will grooms have their buckets of drinking water ready when horses come back to be unsaddled? The pace seems very confusing to me, will some jock try and be up closer than usual? So many questions, just hope it works out on the big stage today. p.s. De...

Jock agent probably thinking long term, not just this race. Guerrero barn who has one graded stakes winner in 3700 starts or Baffert for the money, hmmmm? It's true that Baffert can offer more opportunities in big races, but it's not like this was Ortiz's only chance to start riding for Baffe...

If he aggressively contests the efforts of the lenders to get repaid, the floodgates will open on the public disclosure of where all the money went, and I guarantee HE DOES NOT WANT THAT TO COME OUT. What pray tell could that be? Just your educated guess of course. He's been getting gambling lesson...
