Re: Santa Anita 2019

Now we are going to have to start talking about the unnatural way we in the US stable and manage our race horses. Constant standing in stalls, the repetition of one sided training, lack of frequent grazing, etc, all can contribute to varies kinds of problems IMHO. Not every state has Fair Hill like...

Re: Million Dollar Louisiana Derby

This is such a bummer for me. I was really high on this horse.

Re: Santa Anita 2019

I don't think you can view Twitter if you aren't signed up, but Gary Stevens tweeted sometime today and likened a horse without meds to a flat tire you can feel easily and on meds "feels like a new Mercedes. Take it how you will - I just know people mentioned him in this thread earlier. I'm an athle...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Why would horses that young have OA? They don't. It's the drive to present unblemished scans for big money babies at the sales. Ask most any breed-to-race owner and they'll tell you most of their best homebreds wouldn't have passed a vet scan. I think using it on horses <4 years old should be crimi...

Re: Boycott of Bloodhorse and Stronach Tracks

Didn't Mr. Balan himself say that he resigned?

TA, the real issue here is that you quoted Stark. The ignore feature doesn't work on quotes so I kindly request that all people refrain from this. Thank you.

Re: Santa Anita 2019

I'm shocked racing hasn't had a #MeToo movement yet. That would be some bad media frenzy.

Re: Sad state of breeding

You did mean to be condescending but that's ok. It's the internet and it's hard to take it personally. You have no concrete examples of how the breed has been cheapened. What stallions exactly should not have contributed to the gene pool? I feel like I read this a lot and have listened to a lot of c...

Re: Sad state of breeding

Somnambulist. I had to laugh at your comments. Yes, bad breeding is a thing. How many racehorses have you bred and raced? Someone mentioned Danzing. He had to prove himself the hard way. He was not handed s book of 100 mates. Big difference. 0. I figured you'd gather that I'm poor from the post.. H...

Re: Sad state of breeding

The downside is that they want a return on their investment and they want it fast. it is all about money. It is not about the love of the horse and the love of the sport. It's not about personal pride of breeding a top winner and passion and dedication. It's about breeding a sales topper. It's abou...

Paulick isn't perfect but he's not afraid to take the industry to task. I'm looking forward to a lengthy opinion piece.
It's going to be a long wait. Bring a lifetime of supplies:-)
Patience is the one virtue I have in spades, fortunately. Or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it.

Re: Boycott of Bloodhorse and Stronach Tracks

First of all, whether we like it or not we do not know the entire story behind the firing of Balen. From where we're at it sure doesn't look good. Hopefully in the near future we will get the whole truth, whether the truth is what we think it is or that there might be a little more to it. With that...

Re: Boycott of Bloodhorse and Stronach Tracks

It's hard to say whether or not they canned him for a legit reason. But their handling of this vs. their handling of Haskin and the awful rescue woman is very strange. I feel like we are owed an explanation but really, are we truly owed anything? I've never felt worse about being a fan of racing tha...

I still have questions about what this means: Strict limitations on the use of any pain or anti-inflammatory medication and treatment, including legal therapeutic NSAIDS, joint injections, shockwave therapy, and anabolic steroids. I hope the NSAIDs limitations applies only to race day. All high per...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Its just going to keep getting dumber, isn't it? This: While some declined to comment, one trainer speaking off the record suggested a sinister motive behind the Lasix ban. The thought was it would finish off racing in a prime Southern California neighborhood. “I don’t think this is about horse rac...

How is he fired for this and Haskins remains employed for enabling that wacko rescue girl?

I'd really like the other side to this, because the way it looks to be right now is that it looks weird AF.

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Reactive flailing in the dark that will only cause more chaos and harm because people can't admit when they are at fault and can't be bothered to sit down, look at research, and figure things out. And by the way? I said this a few days ago: I'm glad they are doing analytics and instituting new safe...
