Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

The suspension would be laughable if it wasn't clear that it was handed down by the stewards as a means to back up their decision regarding the DQ. Heck, Espinoza got less time for his ride that resulted in the death of another horse and an injury to another jockey in that race last summer at DMR. s...

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

To me, that's like saying "some people break the speed limit when they drive so we should just do away with speed limits." Hopefully this means that there will be more consistency going forward. In many areas (and esp where I live, ugh) the speed limit is routinely and informally disregarded. One c...

I bet he tears it up in the Dwyer... A solid pace at 8-8.5 should be perfect for him.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

I think most people have accepted it by this point, especially after the new angle was released, but the fervent few who believe it was among the biggest travesties in the sport's history (for reasons that are never quite articulated) really baffle me It's not as black and white as this imho. I don...

Beyer figures for Maximum Security of 101, Country House 99 in Derby
Turn the clock ahead to next year, whenever "we" discuss winning Beyer numbers for the Derby, which # will it be?
that's what the asterisk is for.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

After letting this gel overnight after careful thought, and after seeing the close up/slow mo footage I am way more on the fence about this (orig against the DQ and still am, but for reasons other than what concretely happened ). It's mainly that additional footage that made me reconsider. It can be...

Absolute bullshit.
Agree... and with no money talking, no money lost. That horse never should have come down.
I've seen way worse in other races with no DQ.

Re: In Memoriam 2019

Breakin the Fever clipped heels and fell today in race 7 at Thistledown. His record looked like he was a hard knocking horse. Rip. Very sorry to see this. May he RIP. Followed him for the last 4-5 years. He won a tough "down state " renewal of a NY sprint stake a few year ago. Definitely a hard-kno...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

I just looked over the pp's and after doing so one horse really moved up my list: By My Standards. I had him about 10th on my list. Now he's my 3rd choice behind Roadster and Maximum Security. Off the numbers, it looks like he could win. I've been looking at him. By My Standards fits that Final Fra...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Improbable, Tacitus, or Game Winner ftw (win/place on one or all depending on odds) I'll add a couple more (Omaha Beach was one, so back to the pps), and box for an exacta but I think one of those 3 is the most likely to win. Using a plethora underneath with very few complete tosses (likely Gray Mag...

Re: In Memoriam 2019

@DRFMcGee Per @keenelandracing stewards, Amandine suffered injuries during R8 on the turf course here yesterday that necessitated her euthanization. Extremely unfortunate. Stakes-winning British-bred 4yo filly was G1-placed. R.I.P :( This is sad to hear... Is there any indication that a post-mortem...
