Re: Stormy Liberal gets trainer switch

Nothing good can come from Stormy Liberal continuing to race. But oh so much can go wrong. Let the almost 8-year-old multi-millionare eat grass at Old Friends. Agree. What could possibly go wrong with a horse who will be 8 in January, and has been on the track for 6 years? This is why we need retir...

Re: PETA Is A Bully

As soon as I learned (when I was young) that PeTA claimed that they kill baby sheep for wool by sheering the skin off... I stopped taking PETA seriously and I am very surprised anyone actually takes them seriously. I get the gullible and less-than-intelligent public will believe it because believing...

Re: We Need More Science....

I like turf racing but also like dirt racing as well. It IS fun to see horses try out both surfaces and I think the belief that horses strongly prefer one over the other is overblown. I wouldn't do so hot on turf if I ran on dirt 99% of the time with little to no training on turf. Which goes with wh...

Re: Accident Prevention

Ehhh, PP's are some of the most confusing things ever, there are so many different numbers and abbrevations and gamblers have no problem reading them.... something tells me they can learn a vets record. Don't say rude and dumb things and then cry when people give you back the same tone. Maybe I’ve ...

Re: Breeders cup mum on Mongolian groom

Are we surprised PETA would film and post such a thing? they love to exploit animals' pain for their gain. Thankfully most people don't take PETA seriously and tune them out.

I just hope BC, SA or CHRB doesn't give them anything to run with and gain any similance of crediability,

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

No worries Charlie. I know you're not someone who wants to keep things as they are, just thought your post could be used as a springboard for exploring some feelings on the subject. Apologies if it came off as accusatory. I think we're all having a bit of trouble articulating how we feel right now....

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I'm under the impression that many horses are cued by specific whip taps to change leads, which is needed during a race. Letting uninformed elements decide on things like Lasix and crop use is not going to make the horses safer. I feel like those are visible red herrings that TSG has thrown out to ...

Re: 2019 Eclipse Awards-Predictions?

3 yr old should be interesting... did the same 3 yr old win more than 1 g/'classic' race?

I lean towards BaM, but both he and Mitole kicked butt in their division and won the big race. Maybe that extra win by Mortar will give him an edge lol.

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I don't think the problem is the MG broke down, I think the problem is that too many uninformed people are speaking quite loudly. Hoe many horses raced the past two days? and only 1 horse got hurt? Football as more injuries in just one game. The argument id that humans chose to play and horses don't...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

No one is saying SA is at fault, necessarily. My impression is more that with the BC choosing to stay at SA, it took a great risk in the optics of it. The media focus is on SA and Cali racing. If this had happened at Keeneland, it wouldn't be as big of a deal to the general public. It would still b...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

IMHO, an injury like that could have just as easily happened at Churchill or Aqueduct. Blaming the BC for not moving the meet isn't constructive, especially when you can not guarantee a breakdown wouldn't have occurred at a different track. I agree it was one race out of 14, now if there had been m...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I heard he wasn't training all that great :/ Damn, did he go down or just pull up? Who would have thought (last year) that Vino Rosso would have not only been a winner, but a top pick for the Classic. He was pulled up, didn't fall according to the announcers. They just mentioned he went on the van....

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

He pulled up (looked like Barbaros pull up, injury looks about the same too). Don't know if he fell, if he did, he was already way slowed down... Soooo, they aren't saying anything? Seriously? They are talking about it. Very somberly talking about him and his injury. Riding in the equine ambulance ...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I liked Curlin (but not as first)... and his adventures on the turf. He barely lost to a future Turf winner! It was pretty crazy. Jackson was so sporting. In retrospect I regret hating him. He put his horses in some crazy spots and they always did well. Ugh same. At least I had enough sense to enjo...
