Re: Maryland Racing Commission - A Good Blueprint...

And the trainers that are fighting this are known cheaters, one of whom trained for Michael Gill, which should tell you all you need to know.

Re: David Jacobson's plan to resume training

There's guys like this on every circuit, and for the most part they manage to stay one step ahead on testing. Here in MD there's a leading trainer who virtually everyone, trainers, grooms, even jockeys who have ridden for him swear he's using something illegal,.problem is whatever he's doing, they a...

Re: Question about breakdowns

And if memory serves, Didn't Laurel have a couple of breakdowns last winter, due to the track surface? I'm not saying surfaces are the main reason, there's plenty of blame to go around especially racetracks tolerating crooked trainers who send out drugged up cripples, because said trainers usually h...

Re: Question about breakdowns

When I was at Laurel for their presentation on the remodeling project, the TSG rep seemed pretty sure that climate change had a lot to do with the racing surface
at Santa Anita..they were citing this as the reason for installing a Tapeta training track..

Re: Pimlico & Laurel rebuild plans

I watched the official presentation at Laurel yesterday, The case that was presented was more compelling than what the links show, with many of the findings from Populous, who is the lead architect. This is a firm that specializes in sports venues, and they argue that the trend at these events is "s...

According to the plan, all horses will be stabled at Laurel, who will rebuild the barn area with more barns, and a tapeta training track between the dirt & turf courses

Re: Baltimore vs. Stronach Group

Laurel looks much more like a racetrack than the proposed Pimlico,..where to begin? 1. NO permanent grandstand to speak of, just a large clubhouse, which would be fine for everyday cards, but NOT for a major sporting event like the Preakness. 2. If the private use parcels are sold, parking will be a...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Show me a trainer who's at the top of the standings, & I'll show you a trainer doing something illegal,..we race in Md, and a one time we were stabled near one of the top trainers barns, and we'd watch his help jog horses he'd claim, and they'd look like total cripples. two weeks later they'd win by...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

he CHRB is a prime example of why racing has an image problem, the people running the show have conflicts of interest. Not just in California, but all over the country. In my years as an owner, I can say without a doubt, thoroughbred racing is an insular, political world, and it doesn't want any out...

Re: Uh, Wrona was just fired

Speaking as someone who was employed in the broadcast industry for some 30+ years, abrupt firings and "going in a different direction" are scenarios I'm too familiar with. My professional opinion? Wrona is a much more precise, entertaining announcer than Mihramahdi. To me the only upgrade for SA wou...
