Re: Apple Blossom (gr. I)

She ran huge last year in the KY Oaks and then ate the Canadian boys for lunch in the Queens Plate - then they kept going on her. Turns out May-June ‘18 was her up-cycle. They should chill out on her and lay low, run her in some Can-bred filly and mare stakes so she can get some confidence back. If ...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

20th spot is held by a Japanese horse who has 19 points. What the hell? I never pay attention to these horses (or the UAE Derby winner) - automatic toss! - but, seriously, he has 19 points. That seems unfair.

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Country House is one of those horses who runs in the top 5, because he’s peaking just righhhhhhht. Or, maybe it’s a lot to ask of him at this point. :?: Before this weekend they were sure of his ability to get 10 furlongs, and to run back 3 weeks twice. Sounds like he’s tough and they expect him to ...

Fifty Five, a lovely daughter of Get Stormy, won the Plenty of Grace S. today at Aqueduct - her 8th lifetime win.

Re: Older Horses - 2019

Quip won the Oaklawn Park Handicap with Lone Sailor in second and Pioneer Spirit in third. This was Quip’s first win since the Tampa Bay Derby, I think. Really like the horse and hope he can put a good year together. Lone Sailor is also a horse I liked last year, so I am hoping for big things from ...

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

Would love to see Mandella or Mott win one, for many reasons. Mandella's press conference would be hilarious, since he likes to tell you ,deadpan serious, how incompetent he is. Both he and Mott would probably be so excited it would be one for the ages. Agreed. I’m a huge fan of both trainers. Alwa...

Multiple graded SW Ask the Moon’s MDO filly, Sundaysatthebeach, broke her maiden yesterday at Keeneland, race 5.
5th in that race was Sport’n Forty, a 1/2 to SW Ghostly Presence.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

Yeah, I get what you're saying, Curtis. Forgot to tell you I think it'd be great if Alert Bay ends up in your care. He's had the winter off and I'm not sure what their plans are with him. I hope it helps that Anothertwistafate has been doing most of his training and racing on that more easy-on-the-...

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

Omaha Beach has continued to blossom and looks fantastic but everyone loves Baffert, so I hope Improbable goes off as the favourite and OB can beat another Baffert favourite. Nothing to go against OB here, so he’s my choice over Country House and Long Range Toddy. I can’t tell if you really like Om...

He's in the Count Fleet Sprint at Oaklawn, I'm sure you've caught that. Should be an interesting race, Whitmore will be coming. . .
I am rooting for Whitmore. He is one of my favourites, and will run his usual tough race. The gelding has some serious heart and afterburners!

Elate should improve off the last and likely needed that race. Hard to knock Bisou though, she is awesome and should also run well. Dead heat?

Great Big Cap goes to Gift Box.

Really terrific rides by both Rosario and Smith. Felt like 1987.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

This crop is bizarre. I like Tacitus a lot and think there is more to come from him. He’s kind of green, but the talent and determination is there. I’ve also got a soft spot for Vekoma, and thought his last race set him up for today. Not sure if he’s a Derby winner, but he’s in my top 5. Omaha Beach...

Bellafina rolled to an easy win in the Santa Anita Oaks, with Flor De La Mar in second and Chasing Yesterday in third.

Slewgoodtobetrue finished last in the field of four.
I just think Bellafina is awesome. She cruised.

Re: The Florida Derby

yikes.... I wonder what Mott thinks of Javier's ride - he kept having to put the brakes on this horse - what a shame. but the winner sure looked like, well, a winner. and Shug's horse, he looked like he saw something in the infield - not unlike Nyquist years ago. Hidden Scroll is overrated. He has ...
