Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Nevertheless, the chrb acted to hide information, then did closed sessions, changed rules after the fact, and other levels of high impropriety. YES. This is the story. Horsemen, Baffert fanboys and media cheerleaders are going on and on about jimsonweed, or the Derby points. I don't give a s*** if ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Re: the CHRB: I understand why these 'conflicts of interest' are considered a problem, but.... If there is a board that will affect how my sport is officiated, I know I'd prefer to have people on that board who are well-informed and intimately familiar with my sport. Where do you find qualified peo...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

So do people still really believe Bayern shouldn't have been DQed. The CHRB deserves to have the State take it over. YES. I was standing in the box in front of owner Kaleem Shah and his family when the Bayern won, and former CHRB commisioner turned boss of Stronach Corp/Santa Anita (which was a big...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

It stinks to high heaven all around. Getting so jaded about everything. :( :( Been there, done that, quit racing, no intention to return. I worked in the So Cal racing industry, and saw this kinda crap firsthand and also heard stories from a handful of people I trust. At first I didn't want to beli...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Not surprised. The conflicts of interest in racing, and California in particular, are outta control. I'm sure Baffert's been given special treatment more times than we realize.

The first one that came to my mind as well. I was screaming for the quirky underdog, but the blah Euro won again and instantly killed the crowd's buzz.

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Paulick Report article about Hollendorfer's fatality stats being in line with the national average. I can attest to the quote at the end about them checking every horse top to bottom every day and jogging them based on my experience working in his barn one summer. Jerry wasn't there doing it himself...

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2019

This whole thing shows how amateur-hour P.R. is in the horse racing industry. Just ban someone because there's a chance something might happen and you'd have to, you know, do your job and defend yourself or something? No, just keep posting cute pics of your buddies kissing horsie noses and that'll m...

And just as a side note....
Baffert has an appropriately named 2YO filly making her first start in the second race....
"We're Still Here" ;)
Wasn't there a trainer that had 7 horses die in like 18 months with no real explanation at Santa Anita a while back? I forget the name.
Baffert?

Re: Chad Brown has been ordered to pay more than $1 million ....

Are backstretch workers paid hourly or just a flat rate as contract employees? It varies. As a hotwalker, I was paid hourly. But there was no time clock, so they paid me based on the set hours I was supposed to be there every day. If it was my turn to come back in the afternoon, or help for a race,...

Re: Chad Brown has been ordered to pay more than $1 million ....

Not surprised. It happens all the time, in horse racing and all industries that exploit immigrant labor. And that's such a big operation, the amount of money is reflective of that. I worked for four different trainers, and it was the Hall of Fame one with multiple, large strings that screwed me (and...

Re: TV Discussion Thread

I liked it. I didn't expect Bran at all, because he repeatedly stated he couldn't do [insert job title here] because he was the Three-Eyed Raven. So I guess he gives up most of those job duties after everyone made a big deal about protecting him from TNK? But as bittersweet as Jon's entire story was...

Re: TV Discussion Thread

Well I didn't think it was bad. I think people just can't be pleased anymore. There's a plot twist, it's too "rushed" or "out of character." There's not a plot twist and things go how they're supposed to in fairytale land, and it's "fan service." "Game of Thrones" is its own worst enemy for having c...

He was already hypocritical when he made a tweet about hanging onto the "good ones," yet let go of a grade 1 winner who dropped down to claiming races in New Mexico. Not a fan of him for when he tried to collect mortality insurance on one of his horses that was alive, and also how many people were s...

I really don't much care who ends up on the Iron Throne as long as it's not Cersei or friggin Euron. Maybe Ghost should be king. Same! Ever since the first scene of the series, I was always most worried about the Whitewalkers. Now that that threat is (at least apparently) gone, it's just politics. ...
