Re: Royal Ascot 2019

When are we going to admit that Blue Point is simply better than Battaash? I'm so tired of people saying BP has better Ascot form, better over the 5f at Ascot, and if Battaash is in the right headspace he's unbeatable... yet again Blue Point beats Battaash fair and square. Maybe I'm old fashioned, b...

Update on Accidental. Racing Post lists him as "PU" in the race today, which I'm assuming means "pulled up."
It does. It's pretty common in jumps racing, I wouldn't be too worried about him.

Re: Horrible Names For Horses

Very seldom are behavior issues a horse problem (PARTICULARLY if they've escalated to "violent"), they are almost always people created. There are plenty of people that have horses that are beyond their skill level. Plenty of people. And now back to racing. Temperament is strongly genetic and that'...

I know horses generally do OK in cold weather, but doesn't a 21-year-old champion deserve a bit more shelter than an open shed?
I can assure you that Sam-Son has a very nice facility in Milton and their retirees (both racehorses and jumpers) are well taken care of.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Zarkallani is a 3yo by Invincible Spirit. @AgaKhanStuds #Zarkava’s son #Zarkallani breaks his maiden in the Prix de Viroflay at @paris_longchamp today, winning by 4 lenghts. He becomes his champion dam’s third winner after Zarak and Zarkamiya. That's great news. Four of her seven progeny (not inclu...

Re: Horrible Names For Horses

Coolmore also gives some good one word names to their mares sometimes. Up, Was, Twirl, Minding, Winter, Tapestry, Soon, etc. Godolphin Australia has the best one word names. If you don't mind going down a bit of a rabbit hole, their website has all of their horses in training listed, and whoever is ...

Yeah, I think he's up against it. He may be a Canadian classic winner and duel G1 winner, but the Awesome Again line just isn't precocious and the breed to sell part of the industry has no time for that. Starting in California and covering mares that those that ended up being for sale/rescue for $5...

Are backstretch workers paid hourly or just a flat rate as contract employees?
When I hotwalked for a Summer, it was hourly. That was at Woodbine for a trainer who only had 8-10 horses though.

I like it. Simple. One word. His dam's name was Violent Beauty. If a champion horse can be named Bonecrusher (another name I love) then Violence ain't nothin'. A little edgier name can be cool.

If Tony Stark was known as a war profiteer earlier on, all The Sport of Kings is to me is horse profiteering. Phar Lap. Alydar. Exceller. Ferdinand. So I decided to read this whole thread for entertainment purposes and I got stuck on this for some reason. Why is Phar Lap on this list? He was neithe...

Dude, we get it, you don’t like racing anymore because of the treatment of the horses. You’ve said that 74 times in the last 20 hours. I know you only read your own posts on here but I think your point has been made. Godspeed.
