Re: New Stallions of 2020

Nicole Russo @DRFRusso · 23m Versatile MGSW Flameaway (Scat Daddy) has been retired and will stand at @darbydanfarm in 2020. Yippee I'm thrilled i've lived to see the day that a win in the (G3) Sam F. Davis at Tampa Downs makes you a stallion. Any colt with a graded stakes win that is by Scat Daddy...

Re: New Stallions of 2020

I'd say the best example would have to be Fairy King. Full brother to all time great Sadler's Wells, Fairy King he broke down in his first race and was retired. He went on to sire Encosta De Lago, Falbrav, Oath, Hellisio, etc. Kodiac was a G3 placed brother to G1 winner and emerging sire (at the tim...

Re: Two Zayat horses to be sold over unpaid bills

If it takes public shaming to make a rich guy pay his bills, then so be it. The Zayats have always been slimy and fake as hell, so what if the greater public finds out? Maybe he can ask Sheikh Joaan Al Thani how to handle owing trainers six to seven figures over the course of several years.

Arazi is looking good as ever at age 30. He's been a pensioner at Stockwell Stud in Australia since 2011.

Probably the best two year old of all time, or tied with Johannesburg.

New Year’s Day has arrived at Shadai Stallion Station this morning. https://shadai-ss.com/cms/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/A4_NYD_200.pdf Wow, he is much uglier than I realized. I really like his pedigree, though, and I hope he does well in Japan. I don't think the US market ever really gave him much...

Re: Horse Racing Is Its Own Worst Enemy

Lots of euthanized animals from vets and shelters end up at rendering companies and in pet food here in the US. That’s why pets end up sick and dying from the chemicals used to put the animals to sleep. They try to hid this fact but my sister in law worked for a local shelter and said it was true. ...

Lost Treasure to Stand at Hill 'N Dale in 2020 https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/236406/lost-treasure-to-stand-at-hill-n-dale-farms *insert thinking emoji here* I know Hill N Dale has a history of buying broodmares/fillies in training from Coolmore, but if you wanted a classy cast of...

Re: Stallion News

I wouldn't be surprised to see Spendthrift phase out their "Share the Upside" program. If they don't keep over half of their new stallions beyond 2 or 3 years, what's the point of marketing a lifetime breeding right?

Re: Stallion News

So sad. I wonder if Coolmore will try to bring in one of his sons or a similarly bred young stallion to try to help take over his book. Like they did when George Washington was infertile. You know SD's book was huge. The more I think about it, the more I think this would be difficult to do. Holy Ro...

Re: New Dirt Mile sponser...

Should we give Marlborough a shout and see if they'd like to step in?

It's a tacky name but the fact that any company wants to sponsor a race, especially a dirt race at Santa Anita, is a bit of a miracle.

Re: Stallion News

Hopefully he gets a good chance in Japan, though JBBA (or any non-Shadai stallion) is up against it. He hasn't really been that impressive in North America, but I think his ability on turf will definitely be an advantage in Japan.

Yeah he has only been serving mares of the Maktoum family and their associates since 2016. He is an amazing stallion, and the best sire son of Giant's Causeway by a mile, but I wonder if he does have some physical issues that warrant him being private. Darley has had plenty of top class stallions be...

No kidding. It's hard out there for middle distance stallions who aren't by Galileo and/or standing at Coolmore's main division. I'm surprised that Poet's Word got so so few. Just my opinion, but I don't think Shadwell is the best stallion operation. With all of the money and group/graded winners th...

Re: Across the pond

I think it is a sad and telling sign of the Irish/English breeding industry when a top class horse over 1 1/4 miles 1 1/2 miles isn't even given a chance to be a flat sire. Why even both to continue to call the Epsom Derby (or any 12f race for that matter) a "stallion making race" when even the best...

St Patrick’s Day is lot 255 in Tattersall’s Autumn Horses in Training sale. There are so so so many incredible pedigrees that Ballydoyle is unloading in that sale. It's crazy to think how many were mid six figures up to seven figure yearling and just/ dont make the cut and are sold for pennies on t...

Authorized and Bodemeister (?!) are off to Turkey. http://www.yarisdergisi.com/two-new-stallions-added-to-jockey-club-of-turkeys-roster/ I'm kind of surprised Darley would part with Authorized at all. Their French base is usually where they send their less popular stallions/less successful stallion...

End of an era, as he really got Adena Springs off the ground in both the racing and breeding sides of their business. It's also the end of an era to see their top Canadian boys Milwaukee Brew and Sligo Bay be pensioned. They travelled between the different Adena farms (Kentucky, Ocala, Aurora), but ...

Anyone want to guess what Calumet will price him at? They're used to be a bit ridiculous with their fees for stallions in their first or second years with them. At one point they seemed like they physically could not price any of their stallions lower than $7,500, even if the horse had stood for les...
