Re: The Pennsylvania Derby Saturday

Bleh. Really?? I'm quite intrigued. Will Maximum Security get away with an uncontested lead? Or will War of Will take it to him from the outset? Improbable is a good horse but I'm taking a long look at Mr. Money. Yes, it's a step up in class for him, but he has been waltzing home in consecutive gra...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

The vendor of the Leslie's Lady filly said that it was the nicest looking foal that she's ever produced. Quite a contrast considering her foal (a colt?) last year went for less than $500,000, no? Though that one wasn't quite as good looking, and probably had lots of vetting issues. Just looked into...

Re: Tiz A Minister

I was looking at the Bloodhorse article about him siring his first winner. I decided to look at his pedigree. I saw something you don't see often in pedigrees, at least not as close as it is in him. If you go back his tail female line to Meadow Fescue(1937), they do not know the dam of either her s...

Ok, this thread took an unfortunate turn. I wasn’t concerned about Honor Code being sent anywhere, FYI.

I think he'll be a successful sire.

Keeneland Life's Work Oral History Project: Seth Hancock

"The Keeneland Library introduces the Life's Work Oral History Project, designed to capture treasured stories from the Thoroughbred industry and preserve and promote them for future generations. " The first episode features Seth Hancock. I thought the interview was extremely well-done/interesting. h...

Great ride by Alvarado. Watch him working the reins at the end of the race:

Re: Honor Code ...

I've eaten a lot of Korean food and the meat is rarely smoked. I think Americans are mostly in love with smoked meat. I know I am. I don't view Korea as the death sentence most people do. But it's not even September I think the rumors of Honor Codes demise are greatly exaggerated. The thread drift ...

105 for Code of Honor, btw. Nice figure, nice race.
Midnight Bisou 104
Mitole 105
Come Dancing 96
Mind Control 97

David Grening @DRFGrening: "Just a fabulous, fabulous day of racing." I agree; just one great race after another.

Anyways, interested to see where Code of Honor goes next. Seems like a horse with many, many options.
Same with Mucho Gusto. He's already at least as good as his sire was at 3. Is MMM going to get horses who improve with age as he did?

Re: Travers 2019

Migliore may have had the best take on Shancelot; after a replay of the Amsterdam, he pointed out that the young jock kept urging ( whipping  ) Shancelot to the wire and thought the horse might regress after such an extreme effort. The Mig said that, when he was a young rider, his trainers wo...

Snap Decision (Hard Spun-Salute-Unbridled) won over the fences at the Spa today by 38 1/2 lengths. ( I think he's found his true calling.) Half to Mr. Speaker; Personal Ensign is the second dam.

Gozilla (Flatter-Atlantic Dream-Stormy Atlantic) looked fantastic today in a maiden race at Saratoga. Myrtlewood shows up way, way back in the pedigree.

Re: Saratoga 2019

Tom's d'Etat was just the easiest kind of winner today in the Alydar. Second dam is a full sister to Candy Ride. I was sort of hoping for a better showing for Backyard Heaven; about a year ago I thought he was going to have a top class career.

Re: Stallion News

Such distressing news for certain. I wonder if the stress of travel and quarantine is too much, will he just remain in New Zealand permanently. I know Ribot ended up in the US permanently because of issues flying him home. Ribot was pretty much nuts, right? An argument was advanced that Ribot's beh...
