Re: Justify

Love seeing him dancing back to the barn while the armchair trainers and vets are posting that he's exhausted, gutted, nose dragging on the ground. Someone forgot to run that script by him.

Re: 2018 foals

Unbridled Spirits is about 90 minutes from where I live in Iowa. I was shocked to find they've been there for several years and I'd never heard about them. I'd already been in contact via Facebook after the Paulick article to set up a visit, and am extra excited now to see the foal, and find out if ...

Re: 2018 foals

What will Unbridled Spirits do with that blueblooded little surprise, I wonder? I'm not sure there are many...if any...sons of Seattle Slew still producing offspring, so that filly might be a bit valuable. And while I don't wish to throw any shade at such a nice retirement organization, but....didn...

Re: 2018 foals

A newborn granddaughter of Seattle Slew and Phone Trick made a surprise appearance this week at Unbridled Spirits Thoroughbred Retirement Ranch in Lisbon, Iowa. The filly is by 25yo Seattle Proud, whom Paulick Report just featured in their Aftercare Spotlight. Proud went from a $350k Keeneland Sept ...

Re: 2018 foals

If La Verdad went into labor while she is out in the paddock during the day would they let her foal outside with the snow or would they bring her inside? Bring her in. The foaling barn I worked in kept the mares nearing due dates in paddocks close to the barn, so we could keep an eye on them throug...

Re: 2018 foals

On the Foal Patrol cams, La Verdad is live & streaming (the farm was briefly without electricity due to the big storm). She's been moved into a foaling stall and has shown wax on her udder so they're saying in the next few days! https://foalpatrol.com/horses/la-verdad/ So excited! I was wondering i...

Fingers crossed. He's the only 3yo colt I liked this year, and the TC has been a yawner without him. Would love him to come back Arrogate-style and be a top older horse.

Re: An Ode to Thunder Snow, the Real Hero of the Kentucky De

I wonder if the casual fan tuning in to the race had gathered snippets here and there and thought that "bad boy" was Classic Empire? I don't know about that but I have an aunt who never watches horse racing, to my knowledge, text me and say "that's what they get for putting that poor blind horse in...

Re: KY Horse Park Audit: Questionable Mgmt, Conflict of Inte

Too much time, effort, and money spent on attracting various equestrian events, not enough spent on their own facilities, programs, and innovative new ideas to keep pulling in tourists. Fifteen, even ten years ago it was standing room only all summer for the barn shows, and the visitor buildings wer...

Re: Charismatic comes home

I was surprised to read the last time he was checked was at 6:30 p.m. I would think a farm full of geriatrics (to say nothing of famous names) should warrant a night watch. Twelve hours is a lot of time for some malady to strike a horse, and for them to possibly endure hours of pain. I hope that's n...

SO happy for Mike!! I keep flashing back to him and another impressive big gray (make that two) tearing up the track in the 90's. And he has Songbird. He is truly blessed, as racing is to have him!

Gulfstream's website has a livestream (that I believe is hosted by youtube) which has been on since earlier this morning. R1 goes off in 15 minutes.
Enjoy!
