Re: Stallion News

I think something like this here in Kentucky would be nice, they used to do this in years past, but now with the horse farm tours that charge to visit the farms, I doubt they would do this again. Our family used to go and it was nice to visit the farms and see our heroes. Not everything has to cost ...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

While I am saddened that this beautiful animal is gone, it is part of the sport, just as in car races, crashes are part of the sport and sometimes people lose their lives. They know the risk but still participate. It may sound flippant or uncaring, but there is no way to make this sport 100% breakdo...

She is simply amazing! Doesn’t look like he ever touched her with the whip, just hand rode her. 😃

He reminds me very much of his broodmare sire Van Nistelrooy, who I always thought was a lovely boy.

He is gorgeous! :D

Re: Horse Racing Is Its Own Worst Enemy

Lots of euthanized animals from vets and shelters end up at rendering companies and in pet food here in the US. That’s why pets end up sick and dying from the chemicals used to put the animals to sleep. They try to hid this fact but my sister in law worked for a local shelter and said it was true. A...

Re: Stallion News

I think there would have been similarly quippy statements if AP had bitten, say, Joe Biden. Edited to avoid the argument that's probably about to start: don't drag politics into the forum, please. It tends to get ugly. And before I get misinterpreted: I would do the same thing with a posting that w...

Yes I just saw that, how sad, she wasn’t very old. At least she leaves behind some well bred youngsters who may help their dam’s memory live on.

I see that Orfevre had a drop from 136 to 52. Does that indicate some disappointment in his foals? :?
If they are unhappy with him as a sire they could always send him to the US. I’m sure some farm would snap him up in a heartbeat. Not that it would happen, but I can dream can’t I? 🤗

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

This just popped up my WLEX 18 notifications.

Until racing comes clean and stops giving special treatment to certain parties in the business they will never have the public trust.

Having worked in the business I’m not surprised, sadly.

Re: Stallion News

So glad to read he will be returning. And I too hope Hansen isn’t far behind him in coming back. That tweet about how he is a “proper “ stallion and tries to bite everyone is asinine. American Pharoah is a proper stallion and is not a biter.

Re: Jockey club exploring 140 mare cap per stallion

I would guess the staggered introduction of the rule is meant to appease the Coolmores. They set the cost they are willing to pay for a stallion at the point they think they can get the money back in stud fees within the first three seasons before the stallion has a chance to prove himself a flop o...

So that means Royal Delta was sent for dog food? That is disgusting to think of and all those other champions they have. Maybe Mr. Besilu had her cremated and sent home to His place in Florida. I hope so. How is it a negative impact on the environment? They turn into the earth from which they came i...

I would love to see a farm here in the States stand him on NH time. I love this horse and think he was an wonderfully talented performer. Plus he’s just gorgeous.

How beautiful and touching that a nation could love these two talented and gorgeous boys so much that they can honour them like this, and allow the public to share in their memorials.

Re: 2019 Foals

That’s good to hear. I heard of farms here that would hide foals until Jan 1st. Wonder why the US doesn’t adopt something similar?
