Re: El Segundo Sand

Here is an article about it when they were installing it at Santa Anita: https://www.scpr.org/blogs/economy/2014/05/27/16708/santa-anita-park-will-upgrade-main-track-using-san/ Track officials say the reddish-brown El Segundo Sand will ensure balanced drainage during periods of wet weather and a con...

Re: Sad state of breeding

Somnambulist. I had to laugh at your comments. Yes, bad breeding is a thing. How many racehorses have you bred and raced? Someone mentioned Danzing. He had to prove himself the hard way. He was not handed s book of 100 mates. Big difference. Yes he had to prove himself but he started at a $20,000 s...

Re: Stallion News

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/232588/winstars-top-sire-pioneerof-the-nile-dies-at-13 Pioneerof The Nile has passed away at age of 13. I am so, so, sad :( He was so young! What a loss to the industry. It is incredibly sad. Fappiano and Unbridled both died young too, at 13 and 14. :(

Re: Stallion News

Lancaster Bomber is moving to South Africa. No. He is shuttling there for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Arent the importing/exporting and quarantine regulations of horses in South Africa too strict to allow shuttling? I don't know. It just sounded like he was shuttling to me, cause both ...

Re: Older Horses - 2019

Remember this guy? Ramsey's International Star had his first race (AOC) yesterday since 5/5/2017 and finished last in a field of 9 at Gulfstream. He's a 2012 H MGSW. www.equibase.com/static/chart/pdf/GP031419USA9.pdf Saw that. Hope that was just a long-time-away-needed-a-start kind of race... Nice ...

Re: Sad state of breeding

True... but horses like Raise A Native and Danzig used to be the exception instead of the rule, and they still had to prove themselves with the quality of their offspring before they became popular influential sires. Nowadays it seems people START OFF by assuming that the less a stallion has raced,...

How is he fired for this and Haskins remains employed for enabling that wacko rescue girl? I'd really like the other side to this, because the way it looks to be right now is that it looks weird AF. Didn't Haskin retire a few years ago and just does freelance work for them? I'm not 100%, although I...

Re: Sad state of breeding

If the stallion line survives somewhere in the world there is always the possibility it could make a comeback in the US. I mean look at the Halo line. His line is surviving in the US, because Southern Halo was reverse shuttled to the US for a few seasons and sired More Than Ready while he stood here...

I'm really excited for this freshman crop of stallions. Some years the freshman crop just tend to be extra special and I'm hoping this is one.

Re: 2017 Names

I'll be waiting for this one to be named: 2017 TAPIT x WINTER MEMORIES colt ... was an OUT at the OBS 2YO sale after posting a 22.1 (which is considered slow for that sale). He is a full to the nice graded filly Winter Sunset. Oddly enough, this one's chestnut with a nice splash across the nose and...

I really like Elate. I'm happy they are giving her another year to prove herself since she got injured last year.

Re: Stallion News

It kills me that Einstein wasn't loved by breeders. He was a really good racehorse on any surface, raced through ( IIRC ) his seventh year and retired sound, handsome as heck and had a good temperament. Also provided an interesting outcross with his Spend a Buck bloodline. I think he's only 16 or 1...

Re: Sad state of breeding

I know the Jockey Club remains firmly against AI, but I'm beginning to think AI might be the only way to save some of these rare bloodlines. AI would make the situation worse. The vast majority of owners aren't going to send a mare to a stallion simply because he has outcross or rare lines. He need...

Re: Rockport Birdie and a few others

I didn't post because I couldn't find anything. I tried when you initially posted. Oh, okay! Thanks anyway! :) I wonder what's going on - last time I looked E E Legal didn't even have any races on Equibase, even tho I know I watched him run twice via Twinspires. But I think he was at a small Canadi...
