Oh...so the mobs are threatening Larry, not Trevor. Gee, that makes so much more sense.

Re: Hollywood Park Racetrack On Grand Theft Auto 5

I had hoped that the clean slate we were given after the hack might mean the end to MC's paranoid rants...but, no such luck.
Still raving about the mobs threatening poor Trevor with bodily harm? Do you envision them breaking down the door of the announcer's booth, waving pitchforks and torches?

Re: Connecticut Court rules horses as vicious animals

* That's such a foolish ruling. If the court lets it stand, that sets a precedent for any animal to be declared vicious, just for behaving like, you know, an animal . Logic ( which the members of that court may be short on ) indicates that animals that are likely to be vicious are all predators...wi...

Re: so many ways sold

She joins a huge number of classy racemares that have been sold to Japan. * I have often read laments about stallions like Sunday Silence, Silver Charm, Empire Maker and I'll Have Another being sold to stand in Japan but, IMO, it's the mares we've lost that have been our breeding industry's greatest...

Other Racing: Quarters, Harness, Jumps

I seem to remember a subforum on the old site devoted to racing posts about other types of horse racing, such as harness, Quarterhorses and jumps. Is there interest in resurrecting it? * Today, jockey Chantal Sutherland-Cruze set a North American record for trotters under saddle on a 5/8 track at th...

Re: Lady Cecil to keep training at Warren Place

That is wonderful news, and I wish Lady Cecil all the success in the world. One has to think that she learned a fair bit about training a horse in the years she spent at Sir Henry's side.

Re: Pennsylvania Derby (G2)

"Why would the result of this race mean anything compared to that one? " Context. Guillot claims that it took an electric shocker to make Will Take Charge run fast enough to beat his horse, Moreno. After WTC soundly defeated Moreno in the PA Derby ( and I presume that WTC's jockey was under close o...

Re: Sales/Rescues

I wish I hadn't been so right. That poor little girl...and such a sweet, pretty face.
Who in their right mind would throw a saddle over that skeletal backbone and ride the emaciated animal into the ring?!? Nevermind...that was a rhetorical question, since her owner was clearly a mo+#@&#$&@r.

Re: Sales/Rescues

It would be interesting to see the photos that were omitted in that post but, if I had to guess...what lay under the saddle were horrible sores and/or a skinny backbone with its hair worn off. :(

Re: Research: Shetland pony behind thoroughbred speed

I don't know about speed, but I would believe that a certain competitive fire came along with any pony genes. I remember quite fondly a little chestnut Shetland who hated letting any horse get in front of him, and he was a diminutive, down-on-his-belly ball of fire in gymkhana events. :D

As I said in the PA Derby thread, since Will Take Charge just beat Moreno again...soundly this time...can the authorities just please tell Guillot to stop bugging them with nonsense?

Re: OMG!! Mom is having a stroke!!!

* One would think that it was your mother who had that paperwork done, and the doctor, due to patient privacy laws, could not tell you that without your mother's instructions to do so. * I'm not saying it's impossible that this doctor has done something shady but, usually, family members have to fig...

Now that Will Take Charge has beaten Moreno again, and quite soundly this time, do you think the authorities investigating Eric Guillot's "buzzer" claims will finally tell him to go take a hike?

Re: The Gelding Thread

* Looking at that photo of Homeboy Kris, it appears that he has an X nose band criss-crossing over his nose, which pretty much keeps a horse's mouth shut. All he could really do was bare his teeth at Froggy ( who, I notice, wears the same sort of nose band ). Which he certainly did...with bad intent...

Is it possible he was looking for traffic to his inside, so that he could move his mount inward without fouling another horse?

That's scary...hopefully, she will receive the medication that helps alleviate the effects of a stroke when administered promptly, and she recovers completely.
