Re: Stallion News

Do owners of top tier stallions exert any influence behind the scenes over which of a horse's first crop go in the gate first, or where they might be placed?

Strategically you'd think they'd want the crop to be front loaded with likely winners to make a good "first impression".

Re: Princess Haya, wife of Sheikh Mohammed, Flees Dubai

I don't remember the specific name but a year or two ago I read about a princess or similar title from Dubai that fled, was captured by Saudis and returned, and who now lives as an extremely abused prisoner. People like to pretend women in the US have it bad, making up problems we supposedly face.....

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

Wow, did War of Will really just draw the one again? Amazing. Have they been making video of morning exercise available? (been too busy working to keep track this week) . WOW was running away with the exercise rider before the Derby, and we all saw what happened during the race. Just curious if he'...

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

Now, there's an interesting concept -- horse racing with posted speed limits. (There was probably a better driving analogy to draw upon in this case  )

Re: Photos/News about Broodmares

Timber Town Stable 2 hrs · Groupie Doll , who is quite pregnant, likes to make the foaling barn grooms work for their pay. 😉 She took a nice roll in the mud and then decided that, 11 months pregnant or not, she needed a little sprint to the waterer. Her canine namesake here is also quite pregnant. ...

Re: Horse Racing is now officially a joke

I don't know if this has been posted in other threads, but there's a view of the incident that didn't play on any of the official broadcast. There was a reason Code Of Honor made up so much ground on the rail during the incident.

The results are in! Let's congratulate Squeaky for a flawless array of selections, and let's also thank them for winning by daylight so I didn't have to implement a very messy tiebreaker. The official order of finish (note that these numbers were calculated using the official race order of finish a...

Re: Horse Racing is now officially a joke

To think that we might have been talking this morning about the multiple fatalities of Derby 145 caused when War of Will "couldn't avoid" Maximum Security -- instead of a controversy over the stewards' decision. Horse racing dodged a bullet the size of a cruise missile yesterday. Of course the decis...

It's 2009. I Want Revenge (RIP), the favorite, defects. One of the other new co-favorites, Pioneerof the Nile (RIP), is trained by Baffert. He finished second. It comes up sloppy. 50-1 shot wins. It's 2019. Omaha Beach, the favorite, defects. The new favorite, Game Winner, is trained by Baffert. It...

You can choose whether or not to believe me but this morning I had a weird premonition that Omaha Beach would be injured, or come up with a fever, or something and defect. This is the second premonition I had that was true this week, after predicting that my pastor would resign. I'm scared. You hav...

Good for him! I always thought Sonneteer was handsome, and with more talent than he always showed.
Who would have guessed that champion sprinter Midnight Lute would sire a 12 furlong record setter. :P :D
He's one truly beautiful animal. He's not registered as a black -- but he surely looks it.

This is when it really shows that so many racing people got their jobs from who they know, not what they know. Damage control is best done by professionals...
