Re: Racehorses as foals

Having seen a baby pic of a well known, recently retired stallion with legs as crooked as a crow - one would think that broodmare owners would ask for foal photos as part of the decision making process. The majority of foals are born crooked--there's a lot of leg on a foal to cram into a very small...

Re: Interesting thought

We have commercial gene tests for a variety of bleeding conditions in dogs - and an industry that trades in multi-million $$ breeding stock doesn't? That just doesn't.... compute.

Re: Arthur Hancock blisters the horseracing biz

The USDA is far from having been infiltrated by "extremists" when they are far, far, far from being anti animal abuse-as exhibited in their lack to intervene on behalf of the millions and millions of farm animals being disgustingly abused in the factory farming barns, on a daily basis and in the ma...

Re: Arthur Hancock blisters the horseracing biz

Be careful what you wish for. Federal regulatory agencies have a tendency towards mission creep: what starts as well-intentioned drug testing at the track ends with armed SWAT teams raiding the farms of small breeders in the middle of the night. And as has happened with the USDA and EPA, the animal ...

Re: New Conformation Photos

World's shortest man takes Gattopardo conformation photo. http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/stallions/166004/gattopardo That's too funny. How tall is this stallion that the photographer had to kneel or lie on the ground to shoot the pic? :) I think they may have been trying to use the sky...

Re: derby question

We ended up buying four seats in grandstand box section 323C, from Derbybox.com at about $200 apiece. Thanks for all your help!

Re: derby question

Most people are forced to buy seat tickets on the secondary market like Derbybox--you can easily pay hundreds of dollars for a crappy bench seat on the apron. If you don't want to do GA, my suggestion is to get seats for Oaks Day, almost as festive and crazy--then go to Keeneland for simulcasting o...

Re: Black Thoroughbreds

A black was racing at Marquis Downs about 3 years ago, I think owned by a very small time owner. He wasn't very fast, but he carried himself like a parade horse. I should dig around and get his name.

Does anyone have a suggestion for decent hotel for a small group of women? Within 45 minutes is fine - I know the hotels closer in are ridiculously priced.

Am I the only one who finds her to be narrow in the front? I don't know how that type of conformation affects running, but I'd appreciate if someone could address it.

Re: Fasig-Tipton November 2013

How about if 300 internet posters get together and each put up $5,000 and buy one of those mares? It wouldn't keep them all from leaving, but it would be a start.
If you all want to pool your resources and buy Groupie Doll, she can stay at my house.
