Re: 2019 San Pasqual, Robert B. Lewis Watchalong

Kid Cantina was pulled up in trouble on the backstretch.

@BH_JBalan

Kid Cantina didn't take too kindly to the splint going on at first, but settled down and walked uncomfortably onto the equine ambulance.

Streptocarpus - f. War Front x Together (IRE)
My first thought was dinosaur, but it's actually the latin name for a flower commonly known as the cape primrose.
My first thought was that someone was "raising awareness" for throat infections.

Re: "Up With The Birds"

GCh.Minuteman Up With The Birds was retired to stud a year ago, and has been America's #1 sire of champions for two years straight. ;-) Last weekend he entered the racing world! He earned his BCAT title with an average speed of 19.27 mph. That may seem slow to some of you, -- until you consider he's...

It is a strange choice. He's leaning and and has a weird expression on his face.
As a dog show person, I look at these and instantly know how bad the other photos were.

I'm a little bit shocked that the 72 votes cast here were so wrong, 49/23 in favor of Accelerate.

Is that similar to betting with your heart instead of your head?

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Ah yes, those halcyon days of respect and civility in America- the Jim Crow Era. That is absolutely the worst cheap shot response I've ever seen on this forum. Shame on you. The former or the latter? The latter was a proper response. The notion that posting inaccurate things on message boards is OK...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Did the people in 1950's America feel the Triple Crown was garbage when they had seven Triple Crown winners in the previous twenty years? They did not because they had something we do not - respect. Ah yes, those halcyon days of respect and civility in America- the Jim Crow Era. That is absolutely ...

Re: Ken Ramsey

  Can you actually make money in the dogshowing business to offset the cost of that rig?? I know making money in horses (racehorses that is) is hard enough, but at least in the showjumping world I am a part of, you can charge for lessons, board, not to mention buying and selling horse...

you getting write-offs for those rigs I assume, right?
It depends on how they're used (professional handlers, vendors, etc.) But I assume that if you can afford to own one, you can afford not to write it off.

Two breakdowns in R9 at Santa Anita, both euthanized: RIP Tank Team and Unusual Angel. (info via Jeremy Balan)
Saw it on TVG. Awful. RIP youngsters.
I looked them up on pedigreequery -- Tank Team was from the last crop of Unusual Heat, and the other was a grandson.

And don't forget the new Lexus SUV that was purchased because the crates fit in it  I needed an E-350 extended 1 ton before I was truly happy with my space. Plus a basket on the back for extra carrying capacity. We typically haul about 60 -80 lbs of dogs. https://scontent.fyqr1-1.fna.fbcdn.net...

I was thinking you might be on the list? My partner and I both have full-time jobs. Racing is a very expensive hobby and not remotely an avenue pursued for primary income. Not when we started over a decade ago, and certainly not now. I understand this completely (as a competitive show dog breeder)....

Re: Ken Ramsey

I for one am a fan of Mr. Ramsey. He’s done things his way and has the results, the trophies and the bankroll that shows he was doing something right. I did a speech on him about 16 years ago, while working on my masters, and received the highest grade in the class. Doing what he’s doing now is sma...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

There is no good argument for Accelerate. He will be forgotten as soon as his career ends. Only horse racing could be dense enough to pretend this is any type of debate at all. It reminds me of football fans who ignore the big picture and change opinion of every player and team every week. I rememb...

“She didn't make it easy"

Nice work by a 75 year old outrider. “You're out there to do a job and that it to help protect the jockeys and the horses,” Wynne said. “She didn't make it easy for me and it took a couple of grabs but we got there in the end. I'm just happy everyone was okay.” https://www.paulickreport.com/news/peo...
