Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Yeah I doubt Japan will let go of BaM so easily, when his success on firm turf most closely resembles Japanese turf.

Poor Anthony Van Dyck, really got into a lot of traffic trouble. I feel like Ryan Moore often gets stuck in traffic in the US.
Incredible win by Bricks and Mortar!

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I feel bad saying it, but my hottest racing take- that Mike Smith is badly overrated in big races- is looking pretty toasty today. Hope his timing on Yoshida is a bit better than it was on Bisou and Omaha Beach. Breed her to Cairo Prince or Midnight Storm, since she's by a Storm Cat son and we know...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Breed her to Cairo Prince or Midnight Storm, since she's by a Storm Cat son and we know PotN over mares by sons of Storm Cat give us AP and Classic Empire lol.

@Som, 30 and up to 32 a fertility doctor recently told me is prime harvesting age.

Also I thought Smith was off Mckinzie.

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Good on Seregenti Empress really brave in defeat! Disappointed for Midnight Bisou but she had a bad trip and didn't look comfortable most of the way around so actually did better than I'd have thought coming in on the turn. Wonderful ride by Joe on Blue Prize - very happy for them! And when was the ...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

The mile was an exciting race! Love the thrills when a filly and an older mare of certain talent square off like this!

Also re: Kumin... I know the question asked was with the term females but he could've just as easily responded "well, I do love the ladies"

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Happy for Whitmore he really gave it a good run - and Mitole what a horse!

And I agree about the Turf. I'm ok handicapping overseas and domestically but I can't figure out for the life of me when they collide.

How precocious is that O'Brien offspring? Youngest jockey to win a BC race (aboard the late, lamented St, Nicholas Abbey in the Turf), and now the youngest trainer to win a BC race. :D
Well, in all fairness he was practically born with silks on his back and a stop watch in hand :D

I can’t think of any “other O’Briens” who did much in this event, and O’Brien himself has said that he only sent the horse over to give him some experience.
Great analysis TB!
Just so I can understand though - do you mean the ones AOB has entered this year haven't done much?

Re: Across the pond

I've never known a breeder to keep a 10-month-old with his dam. He should have been weaned a ways back. I know a few. With new findings on behaviour and people seeking to emulate ethological patterns of wild horses people are weaning later. In there have been also occasional instances of observing ...

3 35-1

That's gotta be some kind of record in a BC race!
Where is my time machine
the fact that the 4 horse was 5-1 and of course the 5th was 80-1... I'll let you know if I find a time machine.

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

What a gorgeous ride on Structor, and a pretty nice price as well! Poor Decorated Invader. Zero chance with that trip. These big turf races can be pretty scary when there's no pace. Inquiry. I was wondering what had happened to number 6 my stream is lagging and I thought he tried to jump a shadow o...

Not surprising that a Wesley Ward juvy breaks like a shot, but...did anyone think that American Pharoah would sire really good 2yo turf sprinters? :o

Re: Keeneland November 2019

It is strange to me that they still list mares with a covering sire when they are believed to not be pregnant. Honestly, by this time, it is pretty obvious whether or not they are pregnant if vets are checking with ultrasound or labwork. It would just make more sense to leave covering sire blank wo...

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

I concur, research is the real world in this case as most of the data we have gathered is from real race horses. There aren't sufficient amounts of studies with all parameters controlled due to the nature of racing. So most studies and most research is drawn from the real world. Don't automatically ...
