Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

From what I've seen the flaxen gene tends to be carried by chestnuts the most, although probably the most "recognized" source of flaxen in the U.S. is Include , a carrier, who is bay with a little bit of blonde in his tail. The mechanism of flaxen is not known yet. It's not a gene you can breed for...

Re: Stallion News

I was thinking that.. a tough loss... Maybe its a sign they are getting out of the stallion business and focusing on mares/foals and sales. Really, aside from getting extremely lucky with Unbridled's Song and Saint Ballado, they've always been a boarding facility and huge sales/consignment outfit.

Ariege sold for $2,500 on Friday :(
Sadly, that's the market. 14 years old and has produced nothing of note yet :|

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

You grow tired of watching someone or something not care about itself. You should not care about something that does not care about itself. That is a healthy boundary. I think this is very important; thank you for saying it. Looking around at Paulick, Twitter etc. is incredibly distressing because ...

He pulled up (looked like Barbaros pull up, injury looks about the same too). Don't know if he fell, if he did, he was already way slowed down...

Soooo, they aren't saying anything? Seriously?
They finally just acknowledged it.

Looked like bad injury to his left hind unfortunately.

Back left. Looked really bad. I had heard from a friend at the track that he didn't look great in the morning, but didn't want to say it. Hoping against hope that he's somehow okay.

They aren't talking about it...

Ya, not a single word.....

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Only way BaM comes back is if 1. Those 1 year leases become popular and Shadai sends him off the year his babies hit the track. 2. He bombs in Japan. 3. 1 year lease anyway because having international runners do well looks superb. Can't see it. They had a lot of success with that HOTY they bought ...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Wooooooooooo!! Makes me that much more sad he'll be off to Japan and never stand here. For now. Until the right sum is offered. It's a bit off but I can see turf racing taking of dirt here no problem. The fields are fuller, more competitive and the betting is better. He was sold to Shadai. There wi...

That stretch run looked like it was run through molasses. Still, nice efforts by the top two.

At this rate my pick-5 isn't even going to pay for itself...
Did it ever. They all looked like they were struggling and out of steam.

I’m not sure if this doesn’t belong in the Breeding forum now, but Lane’s End dropped HC’s stud fee to $30,000. I know he doesn’t have a stakes winner, but isn’t that discouraging ? Does that mean that HC is no longer in demand? Not surprised by that drop at all. I think this coming year will be a ...

Australian racing taking a major hit as well in recent weeks with the information coming out on just how many TBs are ending up at slaughter houses, completely contradictory to what the racing commission says about numbers. This documentary has been getting a lot of press, and rightfully so...... "T...

Re: 2019 List of Mares Bred

Per Joe Nevills: "Here is a look at the stallions that went over the 140-mare mark in the @jockeyclub's 2019 Report of Mares Bred. If the 140-mare cap were in place, that would have created 1,397 "free agent" mares." https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EHqIZgjWoAECft7?format=jpg&name=900x900 https://twitter...
