Re: Jockey Club Gold Cup Inv. (G1)

When was the last time a 10f race on dirt was run in <2:00 outside of California? Anybody had Ron The Greek? I respect Mott a great deal ever since his work with Cigar but this guy was a real loooong shot. He was 1 for 6 this year, winning something on the slop in January. What does Mott expect him ...

Re: Beldame Inv. (G1)

She's had a fairly long campaign already this year ( 6 or 7 races? Not sure ), so it may come down to how she recovers from this race. If her connections choose to rest her now and bring her back next year, fresh and not wrung out, I could support that decision. We've seen what happens when a filly...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Also, Kitten in May is in a maiden special weight hurdle at Foxfield. I believe he'll be the first Kitten's Joy offspring to start over fences, marking the beginning of a long era of Kitten domination in the sport. Kitten in May is actually owned by the Ramseys (who are strong steeplechase supporter...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

The last foal of Got Koko, Gokokogo (by Bernardini) is in a $10,000 maiden claiming hurdle at Foxfield today.

Black Pond (1/2 to Drosselmeyer) is in a $15,000 claiming hurdle at Shawan Downs today.

Maidblue (1/2 to Tenpins) is running in a training flat race on the same card.

Re: Mike Repole

I hope he hasn't soured on the sport; I could see it happening. He has put a lot of money into the sport; maybe the returns are not what he expected. Well he put $62,500 into Caixa Eletronica and got over a million bucks in return, which was probably a lot more than was expected from an obscurely-b...

Re: Eblouissante

Such a shame she retires with bettors having had so few opportunities to play against her. If her Shuvee was any indication, she was going to take the dumb money every time out. Shirreffs spent too much time trying to set the record for most recorded workouts without a start and too little time giv...

Re: Eblouissante

Better a broodmare than to be a "racehorse" that can only race twice a year. She's definitely going to Japan . She's too good of a broodmare prospect to stay in this country. When and if she does, the Zetards will lose their ever-loving minds... I'm looking forward to the response when either Nican...

Re: Jockey Club Gold Cup Inv. (G1)

Orb is the first Kentucky Derby winner to run in the JCGC since Funny Cide in 2004. He's the first to run in the same season as his Derby win since Thunder Gulch.

That's kind of sad.

9yo millionaire gelding Ravalo won an A/OC at Belmont today, his 18th lifetime victory. http://www.equibase.com/static/chart/pdf/BEL092513USA7.pdf http://www.nyra.com/belmont/videos/race-replay/BED/2013/20130925/7/pan/ The odds-on favorite in the race, Eastwood, was a Pletcher 3yo with two lifetime ...

Re: Racing History: Kincsem: Mystery & Majesty

It's unfortunate that since she didn't race in the so-called "modern era" (whatever that means) she often goes unnoticed. Hardly any articles written about Black Caviar's "record" bothered to mention that Kincsem has more than double the victories. It seems like most people think Kincsem was just be...

Congrats to the 8 year old Immortal Eyes , one of my very favorite geldings, on his win in the Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash today. He won in a hand ride by almost 7 lengths. This was his 17th win in 47 starts, and the winner's share of the $350k purse bumped him up over the $1 million mark :D ...

Re: Arabian Race added to Breeders' Cup program

A much better idea would be for Arabians to have their own Breeders' Cup style event (like the Breeders Crown for harness horses) at Delaware or something, with races for the mares, juveniles, sprinters and stayers too. Maybe a week or two before the TB Breeders Cup. Get some of that sheikh money to...

I think Wise Dan has reached the stature that even a million dollars wasn't enough to tempt the best turf milers in North America and Europe to try him at Woodbine. Are they just going to melt them down for the silver? :(

That Grand National trophy (for the Grand National, not the American one) is particularly unfortunate to lose. Sergeant Murphy was the first American-owned horse to win the race.
