Re: Photos/News about Broodmares

Aw...that's such a hopeful look on Frijoles' face. He must be thinking "maybe THIS time I get the girl?" :P ;) Last year Frijoles was running in claiming races at Charles Town, he must be counting his lucky stars right now. Teaser stallions are sometimes used to sire nurse mare foals so he may get ...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

It could also be that they just did not register the paint marked foals. Back in the "old days" horses with lots of white (particularly white legs, or with blue eyes) were considered to be less sound or less quality and so the horses that were perhaps minimally expressed frame overo or sabino didn'...

10yo h Vedelago (Red Clubs - Queen Shy, by Marju), 1st at Turfway Park (3/2/19). 50 - 13-5-6, $512,071.
How did an Irish-bred Italian G1 winner wind up in $5k claiming races at Turfway? And intact, no less.

Re: Battle of Midway

Qvale probably kept his horses in light training during the breeding season. It likely kept them easier to handle. A performance breed stallion is kept in training during breeding season. I can't see any reason a Tbred stallion should be any different other than the concept that Tbreds are holy. ;)...

Re: Battle of Midway

And here we almost had a positive story of a subfertile stallion returning to training and regaining his top form. RIP. Condolences to the connections. Has a horse ever successfully done this? I wonder how hormones play into it with bone density and stuff. This game is painful. Assault. He wasn't q...

Re: 2019 Foals

Were Texas Gem's ears always like that? What could possibly cause that? She wasn't born that way, but she had cysts removed from her ears as a yearling and they wound up floppy. It is also possible for lop ears to be hereditary. Lop ears are considered a fault in every horse breed so they have been...

Really. Is it just me who can't see Horsebagger's photo? Am I doing something wrong? I've tried using Edge as well as Chrome as my browser.

I'm happy to hear about successful foalings, but I just love looking at baby pictures (in case you haven't noticed how many I post).
I can't see it either.

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Cool race but it's hard to get excited knowing the best horses in it won't race again. The older I get the more I appreciate the NX1 types. At least it's something to get excited about for months/years. Come to the steeplechase side! 2018 Eclipse Champion Steeplechaser Zanjabeel is 6 and still youn...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

The headline is puzzling. Jimmy doesn't look too excited to me, but this boy has been training pretty well although mostly on dirt. Yeah, likely Stronach's call. I hadn't even noticed that. Pretty funny. The layoff line is 45 days. How many Stakes horses frequently run back that quickly? Any horse ...

Foiled Again finished 5th in a tough field to cap off his incredible career last night. He then received a send-off ceremony worthy of his stature. His front shoes were pulled on the track, signifying his retirement, and the crowd sang "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow". Final record: 331-109-70-46, $7...
