Re: The VENT Thread

Thanks, all. And to add a cherry to the top of the **** cake - diagnosed with glaucoma. Old age ain't no place for sissies. I must resist the continuous urge to feel sorry for myself. Bill keeps me grounded - kicks me in the butt every so often, "Toughen up, chicky, and act like a Marine's wife." W...

Do not be fooled. The market was not good in September, and it is no better now. It is a frightening situation for many breeders.

Re: 2015 Breeders' Cup News & Notes

I worship at the feet of Chris Bailey. The man is almost always spot-on with his predictions (his last few "long-term for fun" winter predictions have been spooky good, unfortunately), and the blog posted below is my daily go-to. He would never guess about a BC forecast this far out, but if you read...

Re: Stallion News

My favorite ads however are the TV ones about Bodemeister with his owner gushing about his first six furlongs in the Kentucky Derby ("I thought, what kind of horse is that?") without mentioning that he LOST the race. Yeah, but anyone that saw that race knew exactly how good of a race it was. ...

I know, so did I. ;) Between the statistics, and the likelihood you will make new friends who will also get married... I'm just saying, keep your lenses clean!

I would, but I'm stupid. It's probably a good thing I'm pretty tall and could never cut it as a jockey. That and I could probably just go into law if I wanted to get sexually harassed for a good living. The horse does look really good, though. I hope he comes back well. He really lost his turn of f...

Also, thirteen weddings is too many weddings. Realizing you were photographing some of them helps, but...still. Agreed. Though I would have been to at least three of the five I shot anyway... Mercifully, at this point I've got the majority of my friends all married off, so this shouldn't ever happe...

The only blazes I can recall were Green Forest and Bounding Basque, but both were chestnuts.

Oh, good, I think. Yes. I am certainly not advising filing a report inappropriately or without authority, but a legitimate filing by a rescue or other party... that's not a problem. Just be certain that the horse for which you're filing the report is the one you are believe it to be. When in doubt,...

Anyone with an online account can file a death report for a horse. Regardless of whether they have the authority to do so.

I feel bad for hip 786. Malibu Moon o/o a stakes winning Distorted Humor mare. Sold for 15k, no one signs his ticket and he's reoffered just now and sold for 22k. You'd think he'd bring more, poor fella. He was pretty. Maybe a bad scope, or a conformational fault? :? Malibu Moon's babies don't look...

Battle Joined. I hope they don't change it.
If they keep it, I hope the horse is a good one. To me, there is only one Battle Joined.

I think you did a fine job with the photos, considering. One way to improve would be to squat slightly (so you are not taking the photo "down"), especially since you are so close to them. It provides a more balanced, representative and flattering view.

Thank you for sharing your pictures.

BTW: America's Best Racing @ABRLive 30mins ago Banke said the win was "gratifying" because Rachel's Valentina is Rachel Alexandra's final foal. @NBCSN @TheNYRA #Saratoga @StonestreetFarm So I guess that answers that. It's understandable. Just a darned shame that a racehorse of her caliber, and now ...

Raven's Pass was on my radar since August of that year, and after his race in September, I was all in. Surface would not have made a difference in my selection, as I thought he was the best horse at the right time. I wish it hadn't been synthetic, because I don't think it would have mattered and thi...

Re: Au Moon

That is a terrible shame. I won't blame the connections but I do find it puzzling that they couldn't find something else for a bored and competitive 9-year-old to do, like being retrained as a competition horse. so why wouldn't you blame the connections, since the 9 year old horse was under the car...
