The good thing about having Normandy Invasion's record is that he's still eligible for an N1X to tighten the screws in his first race back.

Went back and forth trying to decide if I could come up with some way that he loses here, but they managed to find a nice, weak field. I do worry about how this horse will perform if he's looked in the eye late, but they should just blow past everyone with ease. Distance/configuration may not be ideal, but again, I doubt it matters.

Maybe Touchofstarquality is the most logical? They had just a poor trip on debut and still engulfed the field pretty nicely and Nevin generally fires well fresh (23%/48%). They get Rosario, which is pretty decent.

I actually liked Morgan's Guerrilla at one point, but he's been off since 2012 and next time seems more logical.

This horse has a very good chance to be one of the best horses in the country. I'm a little biased, as I am a big fan, but there is a very strong argument that he was the best horse in last year's Derby, and every other horse that got involved in the pace prematurely ran some very good subsequent races.

You seem to think the best horses are ones that never win. lol. Horse is 1 for 6 lifetime.

You do realize the point is to WIN races, not run the best race.

I agree. But I'm also a tad biased :)

He just needs to actually prove it and win.

While it's abundantly clear that your intellectual skills are limited, I would think even you would recognize what thinair was saying.

But, no. You are, in fact, too limited.

My mistake.

I recognize it, and it is wrong. The best horse won last year's Derby. Period. Just like the best horse won the Southwest yesterday. Orb won more Grade 1's in a five week period than Normandy Invasion has won any type of races in his entire career.

Some horses are not winners, but fools repeatedly make excuses for them.

With all due respect to the ML maker at Gulfstream, 7/5 on Normandy Invasion feels very conservative.

Their ML is ridiculous.

Wins by open lengths at 1/5.

Touchofstarquality blew the break...again...never factored.

Very nice return. He did what good horses should do. I do not see him at the talent level of Will Take Charge but he could be just a notch below like a Palace Malice.

Trakus revising times of Normandy Invasion race, now crediting him w/new track record of 1:33.13 smashing old mark set by Commentator in '08
Hoist the Flag was the best horse I ever rode, by far... It wasn't Seattle Slew.

You don't think it's a little early yet to say? Yes, he should've won nicely, and he did, but we'll see how he stacks up against the best older horses when he races in a graded stakes (and potentially against some of those horses).
Agree. Have to think that Normandy Invasion did exactly what he needed to today.

Congrats. A day that Mr. Porter can enjoy with a smile, I'm sure. Looking forward to where his campaign takes him this year. Perhaps the Met Mile?

If he ran a mile in 1:33 he is the real deal. He looked like he was not pushed either, but the track is very fast. I do not think he is a 10f horse though like WTC.
