Almond Eye's season is reminiscent of Enable's 4yo campaign. She missed majority of it due to setbacks but she comes back to the track greater than ever, beating the best of the best in Japan! I would love for the two mares to square off one day but I totally understand it's a tough ask for either mare to travel to meet the other. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised to see Almond Eye retired at the end of the year.

She is simply amazing! Doesn’t look like he ever touched her with the whip, just hand rode her. 😃

Yay, she won! :D
It was beautiful to see. She's clearly above the rest and I'm convinced she would have won the Arc.

Wow that was an absolutely star-studded field and she demolished them in a hand ride. Just pounded some big G1 horses into submission.

Wow, a lot of big names from the past there. The auction landscape in Japan will look a lot different now that he has passed; Mr. Kondo never hesitated to reach deep into his pockets for a horse that he really liked.

Still trying to track down the source, but Graham Pavey retweeted it so it's more likely legit than not? I think?

Deirdre will not be retired.

After Hong Kong Vase, She will go for Saudi or Dubai.

If she run in Saudi, Her trainer hasn’t been decided whether she will run turf or Dirt.

A little bit worried abt the 11 in the Welcome Stakes... she tried to roll in the paddock & just looks short/sore/off.

The vet looked at her behind the gate (which I have never seen happen in my time of watching Japanese racing), but they let her run. She didn't have a good start and is at the end of the field, please just let her get home safe. :?

ETA fourth last but she stayed on her feet. Gah. I hope she's okay. :?

Japan Cup time... jeez Rey de Oro looks a beast in the parade. Suave Richard & Cheval Grand also look good and I like You Can Smile too, but wowzers is RDO impressive.

Welp Danburite bolted, that's gotta fubar his race. And now that they're more warm I'm not as impressed with Cheval Grand and far more impressed with Curren Bouquetd'or... Kate Hunter thinks Jinambo might do well given the footing.

But RDO is calm at the moment, if he can stay that way it's his race I reckon.

Suave Richard has a really nice flowing walk. He doesn't like the cheek pieces much, shook his head a bit, but he seems ready to go. I really like the filly but she's only 3, dunno if 4kg can be enough to equalize.

Loading now, here we go!

ETA after the fact, I keep getting distracted by the cheek pieces too LOL. Wonder if they'd do better to put them on the cheek pieces of the cavesson instead, then he wouldn't keep getting them moving around by his eye when the reins are pulled...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah just 3/4 of a length, she almost had it! She did get somewhat pinched on the rail but wow, Suave Richard was under a chokehold the entire way, he was in behind her and stuck by horses to his outside. Brilliant by Murphy to duck back to the rail rather than get pinched between the filly & Dawia Cagney who was finally tiring... very impressive win, yay Suave Richard!

Still reeeeally like the filly tho.
