Dream Tree emerged from work this am with entrapped epiglottis and is out of Filly/Mare Sprint, per Baffert
Dream Tree came out of her work this morning at Santa Anita with an entrapped epiglottis that will need surgery and thus is out of the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs, trainer Bob Baffert reported at his Santa Anita barn at 10 am.

Dream Tree worked in company just after 9 am and worked fast, in 46.80 seconds for a half-mile, but had to be shoved along late to best her company. She was "making noise" after the work, Baffert said, and an endoscopic examination minutes later at the barn revealed the isssue.

Dream Tree, 3, is unbeaten in five starts. She was also scheduled to be sold at auction following the Breeders' Cup, but Baffert said she will be withdrawn. She will remain in training next year, he said.

Also related to this development is that Mike Smith will now get on Marley's Freedom for the Filly and Mare Sprint, Baffert said. Smith was to ride Dream Tree, and Drayden Van Dyke Marley's Freedom, but Smith will move to Marley's Freedom, and Van Dyke will be the odd man out.

It's a shame Dream Tree will miss the F&M Sprint, but I'm glad we will get to see her race next year.

MyLute: Still trying to figure out why his name is “Its” instead of the grammatically correct “It’s” (assuming his name is “It is going to hurt”).

Because people are grammatically-challenged these days? They know their emojis, but spelling and punctuation? Nope. :P

What IF (that's a big IF)......
the Breeders Cup was held this week instead of next
and
the folks who always hope the venue is Belmont got their wish.
Hmmmm?

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Well, it’s darn good luck it is not.
I’ve been to a Belmont BC, and thought it was a good time. We cannot control weather and Kentucky could get bad weather too.

Back to the turf juvie racing, our turf racing is also getting stronger, thanks to all the Northen Dancer influence and his cohorts.

Enable @EnableFilly
Bit disappointing so far. It said in the brochure there would be blue grass.

TVG just announced that XY Jet is out of the Sprint. Apparently the connections weren't happy with his workout on Friday, and that he was a bit stiff the next day.

Bobby Flay back to crying about his idea, the Breeders Cup Derby.

I'll admit I don't pay attention to this guy even remotely to know much about him. But every time I read an article he is crying about something. Did he leave the BC board over them shooting down his idea? I couldn't find an article in my short look for one. I just remember another article about him not being able to get a mare into a Claiborne stallion, I'm assuming War Front, and he said he would never send a mare to one of their stallions again.

I saw this on BH. XY Jet has been having a hard time getting to the Championship race the last couple of years... they'll target the Golden Shaheen with him again for his next race and hope third time's the charm.

Also, I'm glad the juvenile races got moved to Friday... that's the best move the committee's made in the last few years, essentially placing all the stuff I don't care much about on the preceding day so the chaff doesn't pepper the goods. ;) Now I can use that time to 'cap the Saturday races and watch the track Fri to see how it's playing.

Certainly the impression I'm getting is that any "celebrity" he brings to to the sport doesn't excuse or exceed the accompanying headache. His idea is just wildly stupid, and he should be grateful the BC committee didn't publicly express as much.

Haven't seen confirmation from Coolmore yet but Marcus seems pretty sure of this.

Marcus Hersh @DRFHersh
Broome isn't coming to the @BreedersCup Juvenile Turf. Anthony Van Dyck will be A O'Brien's only runner in that race. One should be plenty in this case. AVD the likely favorite.

TVG and CDI are still maintaining diplomatic relations. :D
TVG Will Broadcast Churchill Fall Meet Signal On Primary Network
TVG, America's national horse racing network and an affiliate of FanDuel Group, will carry the 21-day fall meet from the historic home of the Kentucky Derby on its primary broadcast channel, TVG, which is available in over 40 million homes, with live coverage beginning Sunday, October 28th.
TVG also announced it will carry the first two Breeders' Cup races from Churchill Downs on Championship Saturday, November 3, as well as the undercard stakes and other races from Churchill Downs on both days of the Breeders' Cup.

I am really happy about TVG showing the undercards. Those can be good races, but NBCSN doesn't start its coverage until noon on Friday and 10 AM (Pacific time) on Saturday.

Forgive my lack of concern for grammar at the moment but once again, the "Breeders Cup Derby" is the most dumbest idea ever.
