Well, maybe 'amazing' is too strong a word. They just showed a TVG statement that explained that this coverage goes through the end of Churchill's September meet. Today's the 20th, so we're getting a whole (if I've counted correctly :P) eight days.
woo hoo.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Does that mean that the Breeders' Cup races will be shown on TVG next weekend, at least up until NBC's coverage starts? That would be great, since even NBCSN's coverage tends to miss the early races on the card.

Simon and Todd just said some goodbyes to Tom Cassidy, who is apparently no longer going to be on-air as a full-time host. He's going to working within the 'organization' (Betfair, I presume?) on 'industry relations.'
He'll be back on-air for next spring's Monmouth meeting.
Couldn't we swap Schtupp for Cassidy?

Due to dropping cable tv earlier this year and going with a cheap streaming package, I wondered how I was going to watch the Breeders' Cup races not shown on NBC (which I get OTA) on my tv. Turns out the Breeders' Cup website streams all of the races using a "player's feed (Churchill's?)", so I watched that. I could mirror it to my tv. The Samsung browser on my tv didn't support the video. I use Twinspires, so I could watch the races there, too. I had RTN for a bit, but they don't carry Churchill (surprise, surprise) and don't have an app for the Apple TV yet. Mostly I watch NYRA and they have a great free app.

RTN did carry the Breeders Cup days from Churchill, so there's that.

Oh, that's good to know that RTN did carry the Breeders' Cup. If they come out with an Apple TV app, I will subscribe to them again.

https://www.tvg.com/

Any that you actually miss?

Besides Shrupp, who would you photoshop out?

I would dearly love to photoshop Candice Hare out. She is truly awful.

That was fun to watch. They took a risk claiming Zuzanna for $8k last September knowing she had breathing issues. They paid for the surgery, and now she's won two in a row and earned $27,600 so far this year, this one at the $25k level. Love to see that kind of faith rewarded...congratulations to the entire team!

Simon Bray
@SimonTVG

To those that have asked why I have been MIA and not responding to messages etc, I was just released from hospital after an 8 day stay with a bout of pneumonia. I’m doing so much better now and look forward to being back on @TVG next week.

I wonder if anyone else is like me, I avoid any and all "talking heads" prior to a big race, as I do not want my thoughts to be influenced by hype. I don't watch ANY of the shows at all..........ever.
I also do all my capping on PPs that do not have any odds. As I also want to choose my horses and not be influenced by odds. That has served me well, And once I have made my selections, I'm not apt to "get off" a horse just because I find out (after my analysis) that his odds are high. i.e. Super Steed -----or Country House (and code of honor who was dripping in class) are good instances of late. People tend to think a horse at 30-1 or 60-1 don't have a chance, and they are often very wrong.
I think the public can often be spot on in every day races, but in races where a bunch of horses are doing things they have never done, or in maiden races, I never look at other people's picks, but I do like reading their *reasoning* for liking certain horses.

Okay, you've convinced me of your expertise, who should I bet in the Preakness?
Thanks

hahahahahaha! Preakness not my race, not really even that familiar w/the horses.
I like win win win or warriors charge to run ITM (trifecta or exacta) and that's all I got right now.

Is Candice Hare still on TVG? I find it weird that she hasn't tweeted since April
Ask me any questions you have about New Zealand and Australia racing
