There will be no Australian horses shipping in to Hong Kong for its big international races.

No Australian Horses for Hong Kong International Races
Australian-based horses have not been allowed entry to Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has pulled the plug on efforts to allow Australian-based horses to compete in the Longines Hong Kong International Races Dec. 9 at Sha Tin.
The HKJC had been negotiating with the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources to find a temporary solution to an ongoing dispute that has effectively halted movement of horses between the jurisdictions.
.....
"In the circumstances, we believe that it is in the best interests of the connections of the horses that we make the call now that we will not be proceeding any further with establishing special arrangements for Australian-based runners," he concluded.
The Australian government has banned import of horses directly from Hong Kong, expressing concern that the movement of horses between Hong Kong and the HKJC's massive new training facility on the Chinese mainland could present a health threat to horse populations.

Lost this news a bit with so much happening at Melb at the moment. A couple of trainers entered their horses just in case but I don't think anyone expected this to pull through

Extra drama before the Lexus Stakes as the horses had been loaded but now unloaded from the gates due to photofinish camera not working. This is the race where the winner can earn a spot in the MelbCup #Nerves

After a 12 minute delay the race was won by international horse A Prince Of Arran

Racing NSW have today announced a $7 million race for 4yos over 1500m (just under a mile) called the Golden Eagle. It is hoped this will keep the good 3yos racing for longer.

There will also be a $5 million dollar bonus for any horse that can win the Golden Slipper (2yo), the Golden Rose (3yo) & the Golden Eagle (4yo).

The most interesting part of this is the bitterness between Sydney and Victoria is getting much louder

The incomparable Lonhro turned 20 this week. Racing.com posted a great video of him being visited by his former jockey, Darren Beadman.

How often do you see a stallion and his retired jock get reunited with a little ride around the yard, 14 years after the last time they raced together? Pretty cool.

1 Jon Snow (5h Iffraaj (GB) - Orinda)

2 Saint Emilion (7g Mastercraftsman (IRE) - Roseario)

3 Authentic Paddy (9g Howbaddouwantit (USA) - Authentic Cross)
