Dang...that was impressive. He has a beautiful stride and quite a stretch kick.
I look forward to seeing what this Scat Daddy can do on dirt.

Too bad Assmussen doesn’t have anything to enter.

He’s run on the dirt once - 9th in a MSW in November. Undefeated in 3 starts at GG on the fake stuff.

Galilean won the Cal Cup Derby easily. Graded stakes next I would think.
I’m rooting for him because of his female family.

Galilean Easy Winner of California Cup Derby

Of the horses running this weekend I think only Galilean will be a major player going forward. I know he was facing Cal-breds but he was so much the best today. Pedigree does suggest he will improve with added distance.

If they split the Remsen I read that the house will throw in some purse money. But what about the Derby points, will both winners get the same? Got to, no?

I've read a couple different things. One was stated by Steve Haskin on Bloodhorse ...something about each heat would be worth $750K and the points would be 63.5 apiece or something like that. Plenty for each winner to get in the Derby. More recently I saw something that said Oaklawn would put more money in the till, so perhaps the points would increase as well. Now that the San Philipe is totally cancelled rather than just postponed, the horses that would have run in that would be enough to fill another race. The Santa Anita situation is a royal mess for sure!

Thanks Happy.

I also read that if an owner/trainer sends two horses, they would automatically be split up into the two races.

At that rate, it may be split 3 ways.
