Omaha Beach, who will stand at stud in 2020 at Spendthrift Farm, could conceivably head from the Santa Anita Sprint Championship to the Breeders' Cup . This move should also allow Mandella to keep in the irons California-based jockey Mike Smith for the return race.

"Comebacking" Instagrand and Complexity are both running in the same allowance race at Belmont on Sunday, Race 3. They're not combeacking as in "haven't raced in a year" but they've been absent since May/June.

Also in the race is Bitumen, who won the G3 Sanford in 2016.

The term “comebacking” is used when a horse has had to be taken out of training and then brought back. I’ve never seen a specific length of time attributed to it. Of course the definition of terms change with time.

The Instagrand/Complexity matchup is an interesting one. There are a few more horses in there that can run as well. Another horse who should be reappearing in the entries soon in Network Effect.

I suppose someone should mention that Maximum Security is running this weekend as well, in the Bold Rulder at Belmont. Not an easy task- it's a pretty nice bunch of older horses.

What is the goal with him supposed to be? Cigar Mile? Clark? I have to say I can't remember a horse so disliked in recent memory

I would have to say he’s mostly disliked because his owners threw a tantrum after the Derby DQ. I was sympathetic until they made fools of themselves.

He's a bit antsy in the paddock and in the post parade, but he looks terrific. The pundits are talking about his works, lol.

Wire to wire!! Brave race, dogged the whole way, separated in the stretch.

Looked terrific during the race too! Took pressure all around but won clear and pretty easy in 1:20.76. Gorgeous effort.

I am not at all a fan of his connections but full credit to the horse who is a total warrior, and a very talented one at that! Wonder if they'll try to go Cigar Mile-Pegasus World Cup with him now.

Also disappointing ... Game Winner may be retiring. Depends upon the stud deal I guess? I really hope they instead try letting him rest out the year for real, recover from whatever the virus was, then bring him back in 2020 to run as a four-year-old. It's hard to get really interested in or follow the colts any more when they are retired so fast.

Game Winner, as it turns out, is being pointed for a spring campaign (Pegasus-Dubai World Cup presumably) and will start his stud duty in 2021

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

101 Beyer for Complexity, who looked sensational.

Could go to the Malibu.
