I miss a lot of races worth watching often by accident, so if there is legit race with potential Derby horses that maybe worth watching please post it here.

Today's race of the day

Gulfstream Park Race 6 3:05 eastern

Very good group, but the one to watch is Maiden winner Coup De Grace. 2-1ML but likely bet down to 3-5. Tapit out of Storm Cat. A convincing win here with a solid figure and he likely jumps to top 5 on many derby lists due to pedigree and connections (same exact group as Normandy Invasion).

Liked the race. Coup De Grace pushed a little and responded. A very bright future for that one.

It may also be worth keeping an eye on Unknown Road. He closed really well for second in Coup de Grace's debut race, actually made-up some ground on Coup in that race. It looks like he has started working again recently at FG.

It was, made it appear he won easier than the margin indicated.

Thanks for the video- agree looks like won easier than the length margin would indicate. Wonder what's next?

Brown saying likely the Holy Bull on January 25. Was bet down to 35-1 in the Derby futures. Still a green horse which makes him even that more dangerous. 84 beyer is solid and based on gallop out should just keep improving with distance.

Looking forward to 3 Tapits this winter at Gulfstream. CDG, and the two unraced Vaunted (Brown) and Constitution (Pletcher).

Next Race of the Day. Thursday at Gulfstream, R1. Multiple highly touted 2yr olds getting in their debut before end of the year. 650k Smart Strike named Hollywood Idol with some buzz. Other Pletcher owned by Repole also in but not hearing much.

I thought it was a nice win, and a nice starting point for a promising colt, but what about that gallop out impressed you? It's not like he was pulling Javi's arms off to pull him up, which could be a function of being green and still clueless to what he's doing out there.

Plenty of horse left. Put some distance between himself and others at wire. Had he not there probably would have been some concern. Definitely the type of race you want to see off 1 6f race 5 weeks before. Should get acid test in Holy Bull or wherever he shows up next. He looks like one that will love two turns but you never know until they do it.

Any thoughts on Samraat following his win in today's Damon Runyon? Yes, he was in against dogs and had things to himself through pretty mundane fractions, but he came home well and won by 16 3/4. He's never been touched in 3 tries against NY-breds.

I saw his race today and it was pretty flashy. I like the Noble's Causeway/Giant's Causeway on top, but the Indian Charlie/In Excess on the bottom? IDK...might bring some distance limitations?

Today's Race of the Day goes in about 90 minutes. Race 1 Gulfstream Park. Repole Derby possibility debuts in Coach Inge. But the other Pletcher Hollywood Idol is the one to watch. $650k Smart Strike out of the millionaire Hollywood a Story. Long-term the best of them all could be Empower, but likely will need this one for Kiaran.

Picks. Coach Inge/Hollywood Idol/Empower. Watch the board.

Regally bred Holiday Idol dead on the board for Pletcher with Repole but looks like a major TC horse.

Nothing. He was last by a wide margin. Definitely not showing mom's turn of foot, lol.
The Repole horse was 4th I think. Dudeman won.

Nothing out of that race appears to be anything TC worthy. Long shot runs away and wins easily. Dudeman runs solid time but nothing to get excited about. Repole runner definite gelding prospect.

Rough trip for Coach Inge. I'll give him another chance before writing him off.
Hoist the Flag was the best horse I ever rode, by far... It wasn't Seattle Slew.
