Scroll down to the bottom of the page and get a looksee at the track, and it's only going to get worse as the day goes along.

I still have my doubts they're going to make a go of it today, tough day to try and get $10milly in the P6 pool guarantee.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

For the last couple of hours, we've had gale-force wind and heavy rain. Got a "Flash Flood Warning" until 1 PM on my phone from the NWS. I'm at the western end of LA County, but I think this storm may be moving north and east.
I would not want to race in these conditions, and I wouldn't be shocked if Baffert scratched McKinzie from the San Pasqual. I know that at least four trainers are trying to get horses horses prepped for a trip to Dubai, so the timing of this lousy weather is lousy.

Dabster out. I was actually going down to the track today, but, er, changed my mind. Just light rain here 55 miles east but we are closer to the desert and never get hit as hard. Shame about the timing.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Of course my COX is out for many channels - are they still racing at SA??
May they run with the WIND
Kid Cantina was pulled up in trouble on the backstretch.
@BH_JBalan
Kid Cantina didn't take too kindly to the splint going on at first, but settled down and walked uncomfortably onto the equine ambulance.

Battle of Midway won the San Pasqual in a battle with McKinzie...YES!
I wonder when we'll see the news that the first of potentially five of his foals has been born?Sparrow Castle wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 8:35 pmBattle of Midway won the San Pasqual in a battle with McKinzie...YES!

The mares that I know were bred to him didn't get in foal to him. I wish we knew who those five mares are?Mylute wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 8:52 pmI wonder when we'll see the news that the first of potentially five of his foals has been born?Sparrow Castle wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 8:35 pmBattle of Midway won the San Pasqual in a battle with McKinzie...YES!

Damn, that's ugly.
The fact that he closed for second speaks to his fortitude, but I wonder if the injury is bad enough to kick the grey colt off the Derby trail until that heel heals.

I think I remember seeing a mare being sold in-foal to him at Keeneland...I'll go check.
EDIT: Yes! A Giant's Causeway mare named La Boheme was sold at KeeNov in-foal to him. She was RNA at $70K. She's half to MGSW Electrify. and G1SP Rothko.

Hollendorfer was downplaying the injury in post race comments, but he tends to do that. Might not keep him off the Derby trail, but I wouldn't describe the injury as "very superficial" if he were my horse.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 9:07 pmGunmetal Gray's left front hoof following the Robert B Lewis

Caught up with Hollendorfer just now who said this turned out to look worse than it was. Described injury to Gunmetal Gray as "very superficial." So good news there. Terrific photo @ZenyattaMafia

Yeah, looks like she hasn't had a foal by him yet. We'll have to keep any eye on it.
