I just saw in an article on Bloodhorse this race has a new sponsor. The 2019 running is going to have the wonderful name, Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile (G1). Like this might be the race that beats the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum Brands as worst name.

While I think the name of the industrial fan company is quite a clever marketing ploy, I don't like the idea of it sponsoring a race.

However, usually they just refer to it as "Big Fans" when announcing it.

Should we give Marlborough a shout and see if they'd like to step in?

It's a tacky name but the fact that any company wants to sponsor a race, especially a dirt race at Santa Anita, is a bit of a miracle.

You all are totally missing the “big” picture. Just imagine the possibilities. Instead of that staid old call to the post, Sir Mix-A-Lot does a musical interlude. When it’s time to award the trophy Kim Kardashian appears to present the hardware. It could make for a very well rounded presentation.

Degenerate sport that refuses to clean itself up can't cast stones over the word ass.

Who outside of racing fans is watching those when Georgia plays Florida State and there is playoff baseball and hockey..?

A few years ago Del Mar ran an opening day promotion like this

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

They could name those non-BC opening races on the card after Bodacious Tatas and Isitingood!

Racing fans always gotta complain about something. Be happy a company cares enough to sponsor instead of complaining about who it is.

Not sure what the complaining is all about - Big Ass Fans makes very good fans, some of them 'big ass', maybe than get Lizzo to perform beforehand.

Complete with Missy showing up. I'd be in heaven.

I saw several Big Fans ads during the last NBC broadcast of BC W&YI live racing. And they just say 'Big Fans,' leaving the donkey's hindquarters from their logo silent. ;)
The ad showed a TB and jockey walking under (sort of) one of their huge, multi-spoke industrial fans.

Whoever is in charge of the TV cameras at Breeders Cup should be advised to point up to the ceiling in the saddling area, the addition of the big ass fans really has made a positive difference!

Yeah, it’s just a silly colloquialism and it gives everyone a chance to type in “Big Ass” without fear of retribution. It’s not like the company promotes anything immoral like, gambling.

Probably a couple of boobs came up with the idea.
