“You blew it, boys and girls. So stand up and take your medicine. Sit down and talk about it. Figure out what you screwed up. You're about to see the demise of this industry because of your mistake.”

Granted, I know people feel a certain way about Steven Allday...

I'm not sure why you keep telling us that you don't know who Steve Allday is, as he is about as well known a vet as there is in the game, and there is plenty of information available about him on-line. Just google him.

oh man, i accidentally said it twice. i'm so, so sorry for answering in the moment and not going "hey, if you just scroll down slightly, you'll see you already said it!!" this thread is getting such an incredible amount of traffic, i imagine everyone is truly inconvenienced for me repeating myself in what i have heard be called a "brain fart", which seems to be something i, and i alone, am a victim of.

my sincerest apologies to everyone who was forced to read, TWICE, that i stated i'm so out of touch with racing that i don't know everyone's names yet.

Why is that? His speciality is lameness in equines. He's on the Board of Directors at Old Friends. He's treated A.P. Indy, Cigar, Favorite Trick, as well as winners of 13 Triple Crown races and 29 Breeders' Cup races according to the announcement at Old Friends when he was inducted there?
Granted, if there is a backstory of sorts, I am not aware of it......is he disliked ?

Typing "Steve Allday" into google.com and reading a little would have taken less time than typing this.

So just to be clear, people here believe it is better to be ignorant than to seek information?

If that's the case, I will respectfully disagree.

Having been an educator most of my adult life I have found ignorance to be not only prevalent but all but an aspiration.

Ok I googled him and found lots of stuff about him being a vwell-know vet to well- known horses and trainers including Pletcher, and having a range of his own joint supplements. Is there more?

The problem I have is that he (and other vets) precede this with "I haven't ever treated the horse and I don't have context on the video" before launching into the "It's obvious the horse is off". If you don't know the horse, how do you know he was ACTUALLY lame? If you have never examined the horse, by putting your hands on him and doing an ACTUAL exam, how do you know he was ACTUALLY lame?? I mean, the horse was examined multiple times and passed. but he's going to diagnose based on a 30 second video?

Just another example of this industry being its own worst enemy, IMO.
