There's some argument about whether a necropsy was required for XY jet...would he have been required to have one? Even though he died in the shed row? I thought necropsy was required for all horses who died on track property even deaths not directly related to racing accident or injury

I dont know much about what the tracks do and dont require, but I know insurance would likely require a necropsy depending on the level on insured. Unaware of the situation with XY Jet - did he not have a necropsy? Imagine insurance wouldn't be great on an older gelding still racing with a few surgeries under his belt, so he probably was not insured.

I imagine it would depend where he was stabled. While it may be required at a racetrack, if he was at Palm Meadows Training Center, who knows.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.
