I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Both divisions retain the original $400,000 purse, which means each will yield 85 qualifying points (50-20-10-5 scale) toward a Kentucky Derby berth. The Risen Star, which has been lengthened to 1 1/8 miles this year, is the first of 16 Championship Series races in the Road to the Kentucky Derby series.

Anneau d'Or certainly looks like a standout in the second division. The first division has more depth, and I've been waiting for Blackberry Wine to appear in the stakes entries. (Also been disappointed by Scabbard too many times.) I really liked his allowance win over Digital earlier in the meet, in which he ran faster than Enforceable did in winning the Lecomte the same afternoon. He's breezed well since and looking past Saturday I love his pedigree for stretching out even further: By Oxbow out of a full sister to champion Tempera, with A.P. Indy the broodmare sire.

Although historically as a bettor my record is mediocre at best. ;)

Not going to lie and say I'm familiar with very many of these horses or that I've ever been a great bettor.

But I'll go with:
Division 1: Silver State (yeah he finished 2nd in the Lecomte but he had a rough start and some other problems)

Division 2: Liam's Lucky Charm
Mr Big News is impeccably bred but it looks more a turf pedigree than a dirt but I would be fine with him winning here.

2 horses have broken through the gate. Liam's Lucky Charm and Excession. Excession was caught immediately, Liam's Lucky Charm went a little further.

This is why I don't bet. I'm a terrible handicapper.

But in other news, I totally agree with the guys on TVG that the form from the Breeders' Cup Juvenile has held up terribly.

I think, at this point, it is fair to wait a few weeks before saying anything about FG winners as more than a few will likely end up DQed.

Trainer Blaine Wright could find nothing amiss with Anneau d'Or coming out of his disappointing showing in div. 2 of the Risen Star yesterday. Will get the colt home to NorCal & make sure all good but plan as of now is to push on to SA Derby.

I didn't follow this stakes at all. Quite frankly, I was not very familiar with most of the horses.........I guess you have to play Gulfstream to know a lot of these? I never watch or play GS. Mostly just the NY tracks, Oaklawn and Asia.
