A good number of 10+ year olds have paid the price in 2019, and we'll have a list of names at the end of the year. And with that, my contributions to the War Horse Chronicles will likely conclude.

I know it's a lot of work to keep up with these warriors for so long, as well as the emotional toll at times, but I'll miss these posts. Many of these horses would not come to our attention in any other way. So thank you for giving them the spotlight and honoring their efforts in this very public way.

WarBiscuit, I sent you a PM, but I’m not sure if you get them. I hope you are ok, and I will miss your posts terribly. I kept watching for this week’s post, hoping everything was alright. Thank you for all the hard work you do.

Ditto, but I understand the emotional cost. Loved seeing the warriors get their due!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

13yo Pacific Tsunami won a waiver claimer at Marquis Downs today. I'm sure the 10-lb bug helped :D

I second this. I'll sure miss the weekly lists of old-timers, if only for the bittersweet experience of sorting through their past lives, so to speak, on Equibase. I know that horses don't feel the same things human beings do when they're told they're not good enough to do the job in the big leagues (of sports or business or any other line of work) anymore and drift every downward through humbling jobs that pay less and less. But it's hard to remember that when you see stakes races at Lone Star or maiden specials at Belmont in the records of aged warriors running at Marquis Downs or Rillito. Thanks for all you've contributed!
