The Ramseys claimed him in July. He was bred by Randal Family Trust and sold at Keeneland as a yearling to Michael Dubb, who gave him that name.

I just found this poor horse's name - she is running at the FG today - 4 year old filly
with the name of myositis mystique. Myositis is an inflammation of muscle tissue
who the hell names their horse after a disease???

As I live and breathe-- i just don't understand how some owners are so out of it to
name a horse in this way--- Good thing of course the horse has no idea of how awful her name is..

This is what I found:

The Myositis Association:
Some number of years ago, Airdrie Stud farm was invited to give the thoroughbred horses they breed names that include the word "myositis." Myositis Mystique is the third myositis race horse and most successful so far. TMA is grateful for this innovative way to bring awareness to this rare disease.

This is from a Rick and Morty episode.

The same idea was behind the naming of Autism Awareness and Touched By Autism, both stakes winners.

I understand the sentiment but the names "Touched By Autism", "Myostis Mystique", etc just don't sound right to me.

I don't care for breeders who saddle all their horses with similar names. There are bunches of horses named Starship this and Kitten that in the entries. Not as bad as harness racing's Hanover and Armbro problem, but bad enough. I also don't see how putting "Autism" in a horse's name gives the condition a higher public profile. Unlike myositis -- which I had to look up after seeing Myositis Dan run for the first time -- autism is hardly little-known. Even many people who aren't familiar with real-life cases may have seen a Hollywood version of autism depicted by Dustin Hoffman in "Rain Man."

But hey, giving dozens of horses names like Myositis Memories, Myositis Bid, Myositis Slew, etc. isn't going to hurt donations, nor will the running of future Autism namesakes. (I'd like to see Autism Jones!) So I suppose complaining too much about them isn't the way to go.

Not a TB, but there is a QH who occassionally runs at Los Al by the name of "Is She Legal." I get that it's a play on the dam's name (Wandering Illegally) but stood out to me as the "how did this name get approved?" list of names some horses get.

There was also a TB with that name but spelled as Izshelegal.

There is a hunter trainer in the US (who shall remain nameless) who was accused in the last year of taking advantage of several girls much much younger than him over the course of his career. What did he name two of his newest horses?
