Mikki Isle out of Star Isle (IRE), Rock of Gibraltar x Isle de France, who was 2nd to Atom (half-length) in his debut, broke his maiden quite easily at Kyoto today, making a new JRA record of 1.32.3 for 2yos' 1600m(*). Even though a firm turf enabled him to do so, he looks like a good miler with a light turn of foot.

#3, Mikki Isle; wire to wire with sectional times of 12.5-10.8-11.2-11.7-11.5-11.4-11.3-11.9

(*) The previous one for 2yos' 1600m was 1.33.1, by Vodka in Hanshin Juvenile Fillies (G1) of 2006.

So glad we still have this page. There's a big influx of new mares heading to Japan so hopefully we can continue to follow their progress : )

In Lingerie (Frankel)
Kathmandu (Smart Strike)
Champagne d'Oro (Tapit)

Yatsumi Yoshida
Palace Rumor (Mineshaft)
Willa B Awesome (Medaglia d'Oro)
Mi Sueno (Frankel)
Awesome Feather (Medaglia d'Oro)

Spinning Wildcat (Hard Spun x Hollywood Wildcat) went to KI Farm, which I believe is also a Japanese entity?

Yes.

Like Shimokobe Farm, K.I.Farm is one of the breeding farms in Japan that are independent of SHADAI group.

Japanese champion sprinter Lord Kanaloa, Saratoga Dew's grandson, is bred by K.I. Farm. ;)

Paca Paca picked up Self Preservation. Liked the filly, love the farm. Their Facebook page is great, and whoever takes their snapshots and farm photos always posts the cutest stuff :)

A son of Princess Olivia (USA), Tosen Ra, won Mile Championship, a mile G1 at Kyoto, today. The 5yo half-brother to Flower Alley, the stallion standing at Three Chimmeys, was 2nd in 3200m Tenno Sho (G1) this spring, and yet this time his connections entered him in the 1600m race for the first time, a gamble to say the least because he was regarded as competitive in races of 2000-3000m.

That was an impressive win by Tosen Ra, and congrats to Yutake Take, who brought home his 100th G1 winner.
It's interesting to read about the pedigree connections between Flower Alley and Tosen Ra. It might help explain why the Japanese were so eager to buy Flower Alley's son, I'll Have Another, because they can see that family is very strong.

Do we know if Peeping Fawn is still owned by Coolmore or if they sold her to Japanese connections?

In just one stallions book, 88 classy mares forever lost to the American thoroughbred. I think it stinks and shows just how badly our bloodstock is being depleted. This is one stallion overseas. Just one. And 88 of his mares are from the United States. :(

And people wonder why we have not TC winners??? Really????

The Deep Impact looks really nice and I'm glad Amelie is doing well on the track. Hopefully she can get a stakes win at some point.

That Deep Impact colt is very handsome (and half-brother to a new G2 winner since Wine Princes won the Falls City Handicap yesterday at Churchill Downs.)
